Healthy People 2020 (Adolescent Health Work Group) Meeting/ Workshop CDC, HRSA NICHD A workgroup established under the Health People 2020 initiative. The goal of this workgroup is to improve the healthy development, health, safety, and well-being of adolescents and young adults.

Since 1979, Healthy People has set and monitored national health objectives to meet a broad range of health needs, encourage collaborations across sectors, guide individuals toward making informed health decisions, and measure the impact of our prevention activity. Currently, Healthy People 2010 is leading the way to achieve increased quality and years of healthy life and the elimination of health disparities. Healthy People 2020 is currently assessing the objectives of the past decade, measuring the impact of its prevention activity, and developing new 10-year targets.

Healthy People 2020-Dementias, Including Alzheimer''s Disease Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC NIA, NIMH, NINDS This Healthy People 2020 topic will focus on increasing the awareness of the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, and reducing the proportion of preventable hospitalizations in persons with diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The goal is to reduce the morbidity and costs associated with, and maintain or enhance the quality of life for, persons with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.
Healthy People 2020-Older Adults Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACL, CDC NIA This Healthy People 2020 topic is designed to develop an understanding of the health and health care needs and implications for older adults. The objectives overall will promote healthy outcomes in this population. The goal of these objectives is to improve the health, function, and quality of life of older adults.
HEALTHY study Research Initiative CDC NIDDK HEALTHY is a 3-year study in 42 middle schools to determine if changes in school food services and physical education classes, along with classroom activities to promote behavior change, lower risk factors for type 2 diabetes in youth at high risk for the disease. Some risk factors for type 2 diabetes are modifiable, such as overweight and obesity, inactivity, high blood pressure, large waist size, and high blood levels of sugar and insulin. Other risk factors are not modifiable, such as family history and race or ethnicity.
