These studies evaluate unique cohorts of individuals from professions associated with immune-mediated occupational diseases including asthma, respiratory and contact allergy, chronic beryllium disease, rhinitis, and silicosis. Occupational cohorts are being studied for a number of endpoints including, impact of genetic polymorphisms on inflammatory disease development and clinical outcomes, the role that genetic variations play in environmental and workplace related diseases and identification of unique immunological biomarkers for disease.

A Genomic Nursing State of the Science Advisory Panel was convened in 2012 to develop the nursing research blueprint. The Advisory Panel, which met via two webinars and two in-person meetings, considered existing evidence from evidence reviews, testimony from key stake- holder groups, presentations from experts in research synthesis, and public comment.

The goal of the program is to catalyze a multi-national network of regional GEOHealth Hubs that are the lead resources for environmental and occupational health, attract and retain the best talent in the region, and provide the scientific evidence for policy formulation.

The Global Health Security Advisory Group (GHSAG) is a committee composed of high level representatives of the national health authorities for the G-8 block of countries. Go4Life, is an exercise and physical activity campaign from the National Institute on Aging at NIH, and is designed to help individuals fit exercise and physical activity into their daily life. Motivating older adults to become physically active for the first time, return to exercise after a break in their routines, or build more exercise and physical activity into weekly routines are the essential elements of Go4Life. Go4Life offers exercises, motivational tips, and free resources to help individuals get ready, start exercising, and keep going. The Go4Life campaign includes an evidence-based exercise guide in both English and Spanish, an exercise video, an interactive website, and a national outreach campaign.

Guidelines for Prevention of perinatal group B streptococcal disease-neonatal evaluation

This IAA requires the technical assistance of the National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD) Neonatal Research network for current guidelines for prevention of group B streptococcal disease call for a limited neonatal evaluation including blood culture at birth and initiation of empiric antibiotic therapy for all newborns born to mothers with chorioamnionitist.

Harmonization of soluble transferrin receptor (STIR) measurements

This IAA is intended to conduct activities that will harmonize assays measuring soluble transferrin receptor (STfR), an important indicator to assess the global burden of iron deficiency in children and women of childbearing age. The goal of the harmonization process is to generate comparable data across multiple laboratories using currently available methodologies for measuring soluble transferrin receptor (STIR).
