National Security Staff Dual Use Research of Concern Sub-Interagency Policy Committee (NSS DURC Sub-IPC) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, OS OD/OSP, NIAID Develops policy options for U.S. government oversight of dual use research of concern (DURC).
National Survey of Family Growth Health Survey ACF, CDC NICHD The purpose of this IAA is to provide funds to the NCHS to continue support of the National Survey of Family Growth. The NICHD contribution will supplement the collection of data on contraceptive practices, fertility, and background factors among women and men 15-44 years of age. This will support continuous interviewing for a cumulative data file. The National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG) gathers information on family life, marriage and divorce, pregnancy, infertility, use of contraception, and men’s and women’s health. The survey results are used by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and others to plan health services and education programs, and to do statistical studies of families, fertility, and health.
National Toxicology Program (NTP) Executive Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ATSDR, CDC, FDA NIEHS, NCI The National Toxicology Program (NTP) was established as a department-wide effort within the Public Health Service (PHS) on November 15, 1978. The program is comprised of the relevant PHS activities within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) of the National Institutes of Health. The NIEHS Director serves as NTP Director and reports to the Assistant Secretary for Health. The NTP Executive Committee reviews progress on NTP activities directed toward carrying out its mission.
National Toxicology Program (NTP) Literature-Based Evaluations of Shift work at Night, Light at Night and Circadian Disruption Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC NIEHS, NHLBI Evaluation team was organized to provide scientific input on NTP (Office of Health Translation and Assessment and the Office of the Report on Carcinogens) literature-based evaluations of cancer and non-cancer effects of Shift work at Night, Light at Night and Circadian Disruption. Conferences calls with external scientific experts were convened in 2014 and 2015, and a workshop is planned for 2016.
Native American Research Center for Health (NARCH) Research Initiative AHRQ, HRSA, IHS, OS NIDA, CSR, NCI, NHGRI, NHLBI, NIAAA, NIAID, NIAMS, NICHD, NIDCR, NIDDK, NIEHS, NIGMS, NIMH, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR Native American Research Center for Health is a grant program that provides funds to enhance research, research infrastructure and training among American Indian and Alaska native programs and academic partners. This National Institutes of Health-wide program supports partnerships between American Indian (AI), Alaska Native (AN), or Tribally-based organizations and institutions that conduct intensive academic-level biomedical, behavioral and health services research in an effort to build a research infrastructure of core components for capacity building and to reduce health disparities in AI/AN communities. This funding mechanism develops opportunities for conducting research, research training and faculty development to meet the needs of American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. As a developmental process, Tribes and Tribal organizations are able to build a research infrastructure, including a core component for capacity building and the possibility of reducing the many health disparities so prevalent in AI/AN communities.
Natural Experiments and Effectiveness Studies in the Prevention and Control of Diabetes Research Initiative CDC NIDDK This project will focus on population-targeted interventions that health systems, communities, and governments can undertake to reduce the incidence of diabetes and its complications. This project will also strengthen the capacity of CDC and NIDDK to conduct vital health services and health policy research related to diabetes prevention and care.
Natural History of Oral HPV Infection in the U.S. Population Research Initiative CDC NCI This collaboration is aimed at investigating the epidemiology of oral HPV infection within the NHANES. During 2015, NCI and CDC/NCHS investigators conducted a pilot study to evaluate the feasibility of conducting a natural history study of oral HPV infection within NHANES.
NCI Clinical Trials and Translational Research Advisory Committee (CTAC) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CMS, FDA NCI The Clinical Trials and Translational Research Advisory Committee makes recommendations on the National Cancer Institute-supported national clinical trials enterprise to build a strong scientific infrastructure by bringing together a broadly developed and engaged coalition of stakeholders involved in the clinical trial process.
NCI National Cancer Informatics Program (NCIP) Nanotechnology Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA NCI, NHLBI, NIBIB, NIEHS The National Cancer Institute National Cancer Informatics Program (NCIP) Nanotechnology Working Group (NCIP Nano WG) was established in 2008 for researchers with a specific interest in informatics and computational approaches to nanotechnology, with a particular emphasis on nanomedicine. The goal of this Working Group is to demonstrate the scientific potential of federating nanotechnology databases through pilot projects aimed at integrated semantic search and retrieval of nanomedicine and nanotoxicology datasets that are applicable across nanoscience. The NCIP Nano WG comprises over 20 active participants from academia, government and industry with diverse interests.
NCI/CDC Cooperative Agreements for Cancer Control Activities in Low and Middle Income Countries Other CDC NCI NCI is partnering with CDC in Kenya and Indonesia to fund cancer control activities through the CDC cooperative agreement, via an interagency agreement between NCI/CGH and CDC. The activities that will take place under this agreement include cancer registry strengthening and related cancer control activities.
