Title Collaboration Type HHS Participating Agencies NIH Participating Institutes, Centers, and Offices Description
Assessment of Validities for Analytical Protocols & Prototypes for Various Dietary Supplements (AOAC) Research Initiative FDA OD The AOAC provides methods of analysis for which performance characteristics have been determined and tested.
Assistance for Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children in Developing Countries Act of 2005 (PL 109-95) Interagency Work Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, CDC, HRSA NICHD This congressionally mandated workgroup evaluates efforts on behalf of orphans and underserved children worldwide.
Asthma Outcomes Workshop Meeting/ Workshop AHRQ, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA NHLBI, NIA, NIAID, NICHD, NIEHS, NIMHD, NINR The NHLBI participated in a workshop, attended by federal agency representatives and asthma clinical researchers, to establish standard definitions and data collection methodologies for validated outcome measures in asthma clinical research. Standard definitions and methods would facilitate comparisons across asthma research studies and clinical trials. A secondary objective of the workshop was to identify promising outcome measures for asthma clinical research and discuss the status of their development and validation.
Asthma Supplement to the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) Health Survey CDC NICHD, NHLBI, NIAID, NIEHS The purpose of this Interagency Agreement is to participate in the design and implementation of a national survey of physicians about their opinions and use of the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma (the Guidelines).
Audiometric Support for the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), the Age, Gene/ Environment Susceptibility Study (AGES), and Early Childhood Longitudinal Study – Kindergarten Class of 2010/2011 (ECLS-K:2010/11) Health Survey CDC NIDCD The purpose of this agreement is to provide funding for the Audiometry (Hearing) components of: (1) the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), (2) Iceland AGES, and (3) ECLS-K: 2010/11 cohort study. The hearing components consist of: 1) a set of questionnaires relating to hearing, ear infections, noise exposure, and other factors relating to hearing, and 2) audiometric examinations consisting of otoscopy, acoustic immittance (bilateral tympanometry and screening for ipsilateral acoustic reflexes at 1000 and 2000 Hz), and pure-tone, air-conduction audiometry to determine the hearing thresholds in each ear at 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 6000, and 8000 Hz.
Autism Quality Measure Development Subgroup/Workgroup Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force OS, SAMHSA NICHD This is a subgroup of the workgroup that makes recommendations about what is needed for quality measure development of a project for the development of clinical quality measures for behavioral health. The purpose of this project is to facilitate the development and electronic specification of quality measures. Autism is one of the behavioral domains included.
Autoimmune Disease Coordinating Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, HRSA NIGMS, CSR, FIC, NCCAM, NCI, NCATS, NEI, NHGRI, NHLBI, NIA, NIAAA, NIAID, NIAMS, NIBIB, NICHD, NIDA, NIDCD, NIDCR, NIDDK, NIEHS, NIMH, NINDS, NINR, OD The purpose of the ADCC is to increase collaboration and facilitate coordination of research among NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices; other federal agencies; and private organizations and patient advocacy groups with an interest in autoimmune diseases.
Avian Influenza Collaborative Project Research Initiative CDC, OS FIC This multinational research is aimed at modeling the transmission dynamics of Avian Influenza (AI) spill-over from birds to humans using field data from different regions (Asia, Africa, and Latin America). The expected project output is an ecological model for AI spill-over which will help us predict these events as well as inform and focus our global Avian and Pandemic Influenza prevention and response activities. This project, supported through Global Influenza funding from HHS, is one of the few multi-national ecological studies to develop an understanding of the critical elements of spillover and transmission of influenza which integrates diverse fields of expertise (ecologists, geospatial technology experts, modelers, virologists, and epidemiologists) and which is intended to produce a predictive model. It also supports capacity building for collaborating scientists on these three continents. By providing supplements to Fogarty grantees, this activity leverages FIC''s multi-disciplinary network of current grantees, and it promotes sample and data sharing.
Bacterial Waterborne and Emerging Infectious Diseases in the MENA Region Meeting/ Workshop CDC, FDA NIAID The meeting will provide a forum for exchange of current information on basic and applied research on cholera, typhoid, leptospirosis, and brucellosis, and to identify research gaps and priorities, and promote and stimulate research collaborations among scientists in the US, Europe, and MENA region.
Behavioral and Social Sciences in HIV Vaccine Clinical Research Meeting/ Workshop CDC NIAID, NIMH, OD The purpose of this workshop was to identify how HIV vaccine and Behavioral and Social Science (BSS) researchers, along with relevant communities, could undertake a more collaborative and integrative approach to the area of HIV vaccine clinical research. The workshop sought to identify challenges and opportunities as well as break new ground operationally to advance such an approach. During the 1.5 day workshop, presentations on key BSS topics, methodology, and experiences were presented and discussed. A community panel shared their experiences and insights related to trial participation and community engagement. To formulate concrete recommendations for addressing specific BSS issues in upcoming HIV vaccine clinical research, participants divided into groups to discuss the following topics: social impact, risk assessment, community engagement, informed consent, risk reduction, and special populations.
