All-Ireland NCI Cancer Consortium (AICC) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force OS NCI, CC The goal of the All-Ireland National Cancer Institute (NCI) Cancer Consortium is to reduce the incidence and mortality of cancer on the island of Ireland, which has among the highest rates of cancer in Europe. The Consortium is regarded as a major step toward enhancing diplomatic relations between the United States, Ireland, and Northern Ireland, bringing the governments of the United States and both parts of the island together in the fight against cancer. In order to carry out its mandate of increasing scientific and public health collaborations between Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United States, the All-Ireland NCI Cancer Consortium has six working groups to provide scientific direction to the Consortium''s many programs and activities. These include prevention, nursing, epidemiology/cancer registries, clinical trials, scholar exchange, and information technology. Initiatives in the area of health economics and cancer policy analysis, biobanking, and palliative care have also been established. The Consortium has trained over 350 scientists, physicians, and other health care professionals since 2000 through its various training programs in prevention, nursing, basic and behavioral sciences. In 2011, the U.S. Department of Health and Human services renewed its MOU with ROI, and NI for five more years.

A major goal of the study has been to establish and validate MRI and PET images, cerebral spinal fluid, and blood biomarkers as predictors of the disease.
American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) Interorganizational Biovigilance Network Task Force Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA NHLBI The task force is a collaboration between the American Association of Blood Banks and government and other agencies focused on tracking and analyzing adverse reactions and incidents associated with blood collection and transfusion, as well as organ and cell donation and transplantation.
American Conference for the Treatment of HIV (ACTHIV) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, HRSA OD/DPCPSI/OAR, NCI, NICHD, NIDA, NIMH, OD Co-sponsor and participate on the Federal Scientific Collaborative Board of the ACTHIV, which is a conference for all frontline clinicians providing HIV care for various population groups, including adults, adolescents, children, and pregnant women.
Analgesic Clinical Trial Translations, Innovations, Opportunities, and Networks Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NINDS, NCI, NCATS The mission of the Analgesic Clinical Trial Translations, Innovations, Opportunities, and Networks (ACTTION) public-private partnership funded by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is to identify, prioritize, sponsor, coordinate, and promote innovative activities — with a special interest in optimizing clinical trials — that will expedite the discovery and development of improved analgesic treatments for the benefit of the public health.
Anti-Infective Drugs Advisory Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NIAID Committee provides expertise in the evaluation of evidence submitted by pharmaceutical companies to the FDA for drug approval.
Antiretroviral Pregnancy Registry Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA NICHD This is a registry of use of antiretroviral drugs in pregnancy that is sponsored by the various pharmaceutical companies and has a Committee of external experts and government staff from NIH, CDC and FDA.
AoA-NIA Partnership Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AoA NIA, NHLBI, NIAAA, NIAMS, NIDA, NIDDK, NIMH, NIMHD, NINR This group is made up representatives from the Administration on Aging and the National Institute on Aging who are working to identify evidence-based interventions that are ready for dissemination and implementation in community programs and to work more collaboratively on their translation into the community. These efforts may also include setting up ways to evaluate the success of these dissemination and implementation efforts. Areas of interest identified to date include Family Caregiving, Exercise/Physical Activity, Nutrition, Elder Mistreatment/Abuse/Financial Fraud, Falls, Driving, Sleep, Medication Management, Depression/Mental Health, Living with Long-Term Disability, and Alzheimer’s Disease.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training Research Initiative SAMHSA NIMH NIMH is collaborating with SAMHSA on a project to evaluate the effectiveness of a new training program for telephone crisis counselors at suicide hotline centers. This project is the first controlled study of how trained crisis counselors assess and refer callers, and will provide the first rigorous analysis of the effectiveness of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) gatekeeper program. ASIST involves silent monitoring of calls and follow-up telephone interviews with callers to the hotline, which are used to provide information on the effectiveness of training and the impact of hotline services. The study findings will provide critically needed data to inform policy decisions and plans regarding the optimization of a network of services for imminently suicidal individuals across the United States.
