Adult Questions on Voice, Speech, Swallowing and Language (VSSL) and Children’s Questions on Speech-Language Development and Balance/Dizziness Problems on the 2012 National Health Interview Survey Health Survey CDC NIDCD The purpose of this agreement is to provide funding for a collaborative effort with the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) to develop a Voice, Speech, and Language Supplement to include in the 2012 National Health Interview Survey (NIHS), which is conducted by U.S. Census workers under contractual agreement with the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). NIDCD funds will support the gathering of current, reliable prevalence data for disorders of voice (+ swallowing), speech, and language (VSL) that have been missing from our national statistics. Questions on balance/dizziness problems experienced by children will also be included.
Adult Sickle Cell Quality of Life Measurement Information System (ASCQ-Me) Research Initiative FDA NHLBI, CC, NCCAM, NIAMS, NICHD The purpose of this project is to develop, validate and disseminate a patient-reported outcome measurement information system incorporating Patient Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) methods. The NHLBI contributes funding to the NIH Common Fund for scientific administration of PROMIS and has funded the ASCQ-Me as a sickle cell-specific research tool to be used in conjunction with PROMIS.
Adult to Adult Living Donor Liver Transplant Cohort Study Research Initiative HRSA NIDDK This study supports nine liver transplant centers with expertise in adult living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT) and a central data coordinating center. The major aims of A2ALL are to (1) Quantify the impact of choosing LDLT on the candidate for transplantation; (2) Characterize the difference between LDLT and deceased donor liver transplant (DDLT) in terms of post-transplant outcomes, including patient and graft survival, surgical morbidity, and resource utilization on the recipient of a transplant; (3) Determine the short- and long-term health and quality of life (QOL) impact of donation, including (a) morbidity after liver donation and (b) long-term health-related QOL of donors; and (4) Standardize and assess the role of "informed consent" in affecting the decision to donate and satisfaction after living liver donation.
