NSTC Subcommittee on Future Advanced Computing Ecosystem Committee on Technology Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force Not Reported OD/DPCPSI/ODSS, OD/IMOD The NSTC Subcommittee on Future Advanced Computing Ecosystem (FACE) coordinates the Federal agencies to pioneer, sustain, and enhance the advanced computing ecosystem necessary for U.S. scientific, technological, and economic leadership, in alignment with the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Subcommittee and other subcommittees as appropriate. The Subcommittee on FACE is guided by the objectives, priorities, and recommendations outlined in the 2019 report, National Strategic Computing Initiative: Pioneering the Future of Computing, as applied in the 2020 guidance it authored, Pioneering the Future Advanced Computing Ecosystem: A Strategic Plan. The FACE Strategic Plan includes an operational and coordination structure to support implementation of the national FACE objectives. 
NSTC Subcommittee on Indigenous Knowledge Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force Not Reported NHGRI, OD/DPCPSI/THRO The Subcommittee on Indigenous Knowledge is established in response to the 2022 Guidance for Federal Departments and Agencies on Indigenous Knowledge issued by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the Council on Environmental Quality, hereafter “White House Guidance.”  The purpose of the Subcommittee is to facilitate interagency planning, coordination and communication on matters of Indigenous Knowledge in Federal research, policies, and decision making in order to advance implementation of the White House Guidance. The Subcommittee will coordinate with the White House Council on Native American Affairs (WHCNAA).
NSTC Subcommittee on Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force Not Reported NLM, OD/DPCPSI/ODSS The Artificial Intelligence Research and Development (AI R&D) Working Group coordinates federal AI R&D and supports activities tasked by both the National Science and Technology Council’s Subcommittee on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (MLAI) and the Select Committee on AI. The purpose is to monitor the state of the art in machine learning AI (within the federal government, private sector, and internationally), watch for the arrival of important technology milestones in the development of AI, coordinate the use of and foster the sharing of knowledge and best practices about machine learning and AI by the federal government, and consult in the development of federal research and development priorities in machine learning and AI.
NSTC Subcommittee on Open Science Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, ACL, AHRQ, ASPR, CDC, CMS, FDA NLM, OD/DPCPSI/ODSS, OD/OSP The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Subcommittee on Open Science (SOS) advances federal efforts to support open science by increasing access to, and use of, the results of federally funded research and development including, but not limited to, scholarly publications and digital data. Among its responsibilities, the SOS aims to improve the implementation of policies that increase access to the results of federally funded scientific research and to identify additional steps that federal departments and agencies can take to enhance the preservation, discoverability, accessibility, quality, and utility of research outputs. The SOS meets monthly to coordinate government-wide efforts to advance open science and improve access to and use of publications, data, and other outputs of federally funded research.
NSTC Subcommittee on Open Science, Infrastructure Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACL, AHRQ, ASPR, CDC, FDA NINDS, NLM, OD/DPCPSI/ODSS, OD/OER, OD/OSP The Open Science Infrastructure Working Group of the Subcommittee on Open Science of the National Science and Technology Council aims to advance a trans-federal government understanding and best practices of infrastructure that facilitates open science.
NSTC Subcommittee on Open Science, Infrastructure Working Group, Effective Data Management Subgroup Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, ACL, ASPR, CDC NLM, OD/OSP The SOS Effective Data Management Subgroup (formerly the Data Management & Repository Standards Subgroup) was established to coordinate implementation of and ongoing support for federal agency policies on public access to scientific data. OSP co-chairs this group with NSF and ACL.
