The MCRP reviews paid claims against DHHS facilities and providers to determine if the care provided met the standard of care and makes quality improvement recommendations to health care facilities and individual providers. The Panel meets monthly and includes two National Institutes Health (NIH) representatives; the current Chair of the Panel is an NIH physician.

Diabetes Mellitus Interagency Coordinating Committee (DMICC) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA CSR, NEI, NHGRI, NIA, NIAID, NIDCR, NIDDK Originally mandated by Public Law 93-354 and established in 1974, the Diabetes Mellitus Interagency Coordinating Committee (DMICC) is chaired by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and includes other members of the Department of Health and Human Services and other federal agencies that support diabetes-related activities. The DMICC facilitates cooperation, communication, and collaboration on diabetes among these government entities. DMICC meetings, held several times a year, help members identify emerging issues and opportunities and develop ways in which different government components can work together and build upon each other’s expertise and resources. This approach helps ensure that federal diabetes activities are coordinated and not duplicated, as well as stimulates collaborations where appropriate.
Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study Research Initiative CDC NCI, NEI, NHLBI, NIA, NIDDK The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) showed that lifestyle change or the drug metformin delay the development of type 2 diabetes. The Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study is studying the long-term effect of diet and exercise and the diabetes medication, metformin, on the delay of type 2 diabetes in participants of the DPP.
Diabetic Eye Disease Information Dissemination Public Education Campaign FDA NEI The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC's) National Diabetes Education Program is part of the National Eye Health Education Program Partnership. The National Eye Institute (NEI) continues to collaborate with CDC and other stakeholders to share information about diabetic eye disease with various communities.
Diet Genetic Interactions Research Initiative Not Reported NCI The National Cancer Institute Division of Cancer Prevention and the U.S. Department of Agriculture have collaborated on an ongoing research program to translate promising pre-clinical studies on diet and cancer to human trials.  The overall goal of the on-going collaboration between the National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Prevention, Nutritional Sciences Research Group and the USDA Food Components and Health Lab is to investigate the potential efficacy of promising cancer-preventative dietary agents in clinical feeding studies and to elucidate their mechanisms of action.  The USDA Food Components and Health Lab maintains a research kitchen, a clinical dining room, a phlebotomy and volunteer assessment facility, cell culture and chemistry laboratories.
