HHS Intersection of HIV/AIDS, Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), & Gender-Related Health Disparities Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, CDC, HRSA, OS, SAMHSA NIMH, NIAAA, NICHD, NIDA This interagency workgroup coordinates with the White House to report on the Intersection of HIV/AIDS, Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), and Gender-Related Health Disparities, providing updates to the report and advancing research in this area.
HHS Measurement Policy Council Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, IHS, SAMHSA NLM The HHS Measurement Policy Council was convened in early 2012 to begin the work of aligning measures across HHS. Composed of senior-level representatives from Agencies and operating divisions across HHS, the group also addresses new measure development and implementation, and measurement policy. The Council has so far reviewed nine topics to date: hypertension control, hospital-acquired conditions/patient safety, HCAHPs, smoking cessation, depression screening and care coordination, HIV/AIDS, perinatal, and obesity/BMI. While these measures are used for Federal programs, the Measurement Policy Council supports State and private-sector efforts to adopt core measure sets for further harmonization and alignment across the health and health care community. NLM serves on this council.
HHS National HIV/AIDS Strategy Implementation Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, AHRQ, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, IHS, OS, OSG, SAMHSA OD/DPCPSI/OAR Trans Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Committee charged with addressing issues of and/or related to AIDS.
HHS National Promotores de Salud Initiative Public Education Campaign AHRQ, CDC, CMS, HRSA, SAMHSA NHLBI Community health workers (CHWs) and promotores de salud are frontline public health workers who serve as a link between health/social services and communities to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competency of service delivery. The purpose of the collaborative activity was to establish the National Promotores de Salud Initiative in partnership with HHS agencies to: establish a steering committee, develop a national recognition for promotores, and develop a HHS Portal for promotores and a national database system to connect with the promotores networks.

HHS Secretary''s Initiative on Serious Mental Illness (SMI) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, ACL, AHRQ, ATSDR, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, IHS, OS, OSG, SAMHSA NIMH The HHS Action Plan includes activities addressing the needs of individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) as well as those at high risk for developing SMI. This plan targets three goals: reducing the duration of untreated SMI through early engagement in care; improving the quality of care through stronger measurement and accountability; and, increasing access to community-based treatment and support services.

HHS Tobacco Control Implementation Steering Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, SAMHSA NIDA, NCI Comprising senior HHS leaders and tobacco control experts, the committee monitors the overall implementation of the Tobacco Control Strategic Action Plan to ensure effective coordination and collaboration across the Department and with other federal agencies and to provide support to the Food and Drug Administration’s role of regulating tobacco products. The Steering Committee meets regularly to set priorities, develop plans for cross-agency implementation of strategic actions, and promote information exchange and collaboration.
HHS Viral Hepatitis Interagency Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, IHS, OS, SAMHSA NIDDK, CC, NCCIH, NCI, NHLBI, NIA, NIAAA, NIAID, NICHD, NIDA, NIMHD, OD/DPCPSI/OAR The HHS Viral Hepatitis Interagency Working Group was created by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health to address a report sponsored by the Institute of Medicine entitled Hepatitis and Liver Cancer: A National Strategy for Prevention and Control of Hepatitis B and C. The group meets to discuss collaborations and activities directed at achieving the goals for viral hepatitis research and control highlighted in the IOM report.
HHS Working Group on the Epilepsies Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACL, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, OS NIA, NICHD, NIMH, NINDS The purpose of this group, which is led by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is to increase communication among agencies sponsoring epilepsy-related activities and explore opportunities for increased coordination. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is the lead Institute representing the National Institutes of Health on the Working Group.
