Inter-agency Council on Biomedical Imaging in Oncology (ICBIO) Meeting/ Workshop AHRQ, CMS, FDA NCI Organized by the Cancer Imaging Program of Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD), Interagency Council on Biomedical Imaging in Oncology (ICBIO) is a confidential informational meeting for entities, usually small companies, planning product development in cancer. The Interagency Council on Biomedical Imaging in Oncology brings together technology developers and representatives from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to expedite the process of bringing new products to market, to provide advice from a multi-agency perspective on the spectrum of scientific, regulatory, and reimbursement issues related to developing imaging devices or technology.
Interactive Publications Resource Development CDC NLM NLM collaborated with the CDC National Center for Vital Health Statistics to convert the CDC''s Health US in Brief to interactive form, which can be viewed using NLM''s Panorama software. Interactive Publications are scientific multimedia documents that give readers more information from an article than is available in the published form (electronic or print) by enabling interaction with the included media (tables, graphs, images, videos, biomedical image studies, etc.) NLM conducts research into models for highly interactive multimedia documents that could transform the next generation of publishing in biomedicine. We focus on the standards, formats, authoring and reading tools necessary for the creation and use of such interactive publications that, in addition to text, contain media objects relevant to biomedical research and clinical practice: video, audio, bitmapped images, interactive tables and graphs, and clinical DICOM images such as x-rays, CT, MRI, and ultrasound.
Interagency Agreement with CDC for HPTN 052: A Randomized Trial to Evaluate the Effectiveness of Antiretroviral Therapy plus HIV Primary Care versus HIV Primary Care Alone to Prevent the Sexual Transmission of HIV-1 in Serodiscordant Couples Research Initiative CDC NIAID These clinical studies are based on data collected in Africa and Thailand. There is a correlation between HIV viral load (blood levels) and HIV transmission. Specifically, the higher the viral load in the blood, the more likely the chance for transmission. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) reduces the viral load in the blood, as well as in genital secretions (for both men and women), and the drugs can be detected in semen and vaginal and cervical secretions. All of this information strongly suggests that ART may make HIV-infected people less contagious. HPTN 052 compares the HIV-infection rates of two groups of HIV-serodiscordant couples.
Interagency Animal Management Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA OD/DPCPSI/OAR, NHLBI, NIAID, NIMHD, OD/DPCPSI/ORIP Committee established to review experimental protocols for use of federally funded chimpanzees.
Interagency Artificial Pancreas Working Group Other FDA OD/OSP, NIBIB, NICHD, NIDDK The Interagency Artificial Pancreas Working Group is a group of multi-disciplined scientists and clinicians from the FDA and NIH to support the Artificial Pancreas Initiative. The goals of this initiative are to provide infrastructure for narrowing the gap between basic biomedical knowledge and clinical application of novel technologies, and to cross-fertilize and partner with stakeholders in order to identify and overcome the clinical and scientific challenges to the development of an artificial pancreas. Through collaborative efforts, such as workshops, the group strives to develop innovative strategies to achieve their goals.
Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACL, AHRQ, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA OD/OSP, NICHD, NIDCD, NIEHS, NIMH, NINDS The Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) is a Federal advisory committee that coordinates all efforts within the Department of Health and Human Services concerning autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The IACC mission is to: (1) provide advice to the Secretary of Health and Human Services regarding Federal activities related to ASD; (2) facilitate the exchange of information on and coordination of ASD activities among the member agencies and organizations; and (3) increase public understanding of the member agencies'' activities, programs, policies, and research by providing a public forum for discussions related to ASD research and services.
Interagency Chemical Hazards Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, OS NINDS Working group on chemical hazards led by the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).
Interagency Chemical Risk Assessment Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force OS NINDS, NIAID Department of Homeland Security led effort to determine chemical hazards and develop Chemical Risk Threat Risk Assessment list of priority chemicals.
Interagency Committee on Emergency Medical Services for Children Research (ICER) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, FDA, HRSA, OS, SAMHSA OD/OSP, NHLBI, NIAAA, NIBIB, NICHD, NIDA, NIGMS, NIMH, NINDS, NINR, OD/DPCPSI Interagency Committee on Emergency Medical Services for Children Research (ICER) is a federal collaborative effort begun in the mid-1990’s to improve the quality and quantity of Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) research, to foster collaboration between federal agencies in highlighting EMSC research topics during development of research agendas, and to reduce barriers to the production of high quality EMSC research.
Interagency Committee on Smoking and Health Other CDC, HRSA NICHD, NCI, NHLBI, NIDA The Interagency Committee on Smoking and Health (ICSH) coordinates Department of Health and Human Services research, educational programs, and other smoking and health effects with similar activities of other federal, state, local, and private agencies.
