HHS Equity Technical Assistance Center (ETAC) Engagement Resource Development ASPE OD/DPCPSI/OSC The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Strategic Coordination (OSC) seeks support from the HHS Equity Technical Assistance Center (ETAC) to conduct a rapid equity assessment (REA) of the Common Fund Data Ecosystem’s (CFDE) human subjects’ data reporting processes across its participating Common Fund programs. The goal of this REA is to develop a set of recommendations to improve the data reporting process to ensure the CFDE search platform can support equity-related research. By data reporting, we are referring to the process by which metadata from data sets generated through individual Common Fund programs are incorporated into the broad CFDE search platform. We have adapted ETAC’s six-step REA process to help NIH OSC understand participating Common Fund programs’ past and present data reporting processes for human studies to identify opportunities for integrating data equity principles across Common Fund program activities. ETAC will also coordinate with NIH OSC to facilitate a discussion with NIH OSC staff to increase their understanding of data equity for their outward-facing programs and program management practices.
