HCS Research Collaboratory Research Initiative AHRQ, CDC, FDA, OS OD/DPCPSI/OSC, NCATS, NCCIH, NCI, NHLBI, NIA, NIAID, NIAMS, NIDA, NIDCR, NIDDK, NIEHS, NIMH, NINDS, NLM, OD/DPCPSI The Health Care Systems (HCS) Research Collaboratory program is strengthening the national capacity to implement cost-effective large-scale research studies that engage health care delivery organizations as research partners. The studies funded through this program, referred to as pragmatic clinical trials, engage medical centers across the country in addressing a wide range of pressing public health concerns. The HCS Collaboratory works with representatives from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in order to bring expertise from across HHS to bare on the implementation of these complex pragmatic clinical trials.
Health and Social Services Recovery Support Function (H&SS RSF) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, ACL, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, SAMHSA NIMH The Health and Social Services Recovery Support Function (H&SS RSF) assists locally-led recovery efforts in the restoration of the public health, healthcare, and social services networks to promote the resilience, health, and well-being of affected individuals and communities. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the coordinating agency for H&SS RSF. The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) participants regularly provide an overview of H&SS RSF projects and activities in Puerto Rico; identify current issues, risks, and unmet needs; and, discuss agency specific activities regarding: technical assistance, supplemental funding progress, steady-state funding progress.
Health-professional Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) and African Association for Health Professionals Education and Research Other OS FIC, NINR The Health-professional Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) builds human capacity for health in Africa by strengthening the medical and nursing education system in an environment that values and nurtures research in President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)-funded countries. HEPI aims to advance PEPFAR''s goal of increasing the number of new health care workers by 140,000; strengthen in-country medical and nursing education systems; and build clinical and research capacity in Africa as part of a retention strategy for faculty of medical and nursing schools and clinical professors. The 7 HEPI awards are complemented by one award for an African Association for Health Professions Education and Research, which acts as a convening and networking entity across all medical and nursing schools in Africa. The new initiatives work in collaboration with State Department''s Global AIDS Coordinator.
Healthy People 2020 - Kidney Disease Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, OS NIDDK The Office of the Secretary of HHS leads the Healthy People 2020 initiative. The lead agency for most data activities is the CDC. However, for the kidney area, most of the information is provided by NIDDK through the US Renal Data System.
Healthy People 2020 - Social Determinants of Health Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CMS, OS, SAMHSA NIMHD, CC, NCMHD, NIA, NICHD The overarching goals for Healthy People 2020 incorporate a focus on social determinants of health as well as on health outcomes and risk factors. The Working Group intends to develop objectives for the social determinants and methods to ensure their integration across all Healthy People 2020 objectives.
Healthy People 2020 - Structured Evidence Queries (SEQs) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, FDA, HRSA, OS, SAMHSA NLM The National Library of Medicine (NLM) is collaborating with ODPHP to develop structured PubMed searches for the HP 2020 objectives. Each PubMed search (a structured evidence query (SEQ) or "seek") is developed by medical librarians and reviewed by members of the HP 2020 working groups. The canned PubMed searches enable the public health workforce to find evidence-based information related to a specific HP 2020 objective. The SEQs are accessible from the HP 2020 website as well as the PHPartners.org website.
Healthy People 2020 - Visual Health Health Survey AHRQ, CDC NEI, OD/DPCPSI/ODP Healthy People 2020 is a collaboration with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to survey and measure public health outcomes for a variety of common diseases over the current decade. The National Eye Institute''s (NEI) goal for this program is to Improve the visual health of the Nation through prevention, early detection, timely treatment, and rehabilitation.
Healthy People 2020 Oral Health Law and Health Policy Project Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, CMS, HRSA, IHS, OS NIDCR Highlight the state of laws and policies related to specific topic areas and provide practical information about the use of law and policy to address health factors. Each report will feature progress toward meeting the salient Healthy People 2020 objectives, focusing on state and local laws and policies, and highlighting laws that have demonstrated positive outcomes.
Healthy People 2030 - Nutrition and Weight Status Work Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, OS NIDDK The Nutrition and Weight Status group develops goals based on strong science supporting the health benefits of eating a healthful diet and maintaining a healthy body weight. The objectives also emphasize that efforts to change diet and weight should address individual behaviors, as well as the policies and environments that support these behaviors in settings such as schools, worksites, health care organizations, and communities.
Healthy People 2030 - Respiratory Diseases Health Survey CDC NHLBI, NIA, NICHD, NIDA, NIDDK, NIMHD, NINDS, NINR, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR, OD/DPCPSI/ODS The purpose of the collaborative activity is to support the identification of nationally representative measures that could be used to assess progress towards achieving Healthy People respiratory disease objectives. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute leads this activity.
