These discussion provide a basis for informed decision making for the HHS Regulatory Reform Task Force as well as an opportunity for conceptual feedback before regulations are developed.
HHS Secretary''s Initiative on Serious Mental Illness (SMI) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, ACL, AHRQ, ATSDR, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, IHS, OS, OSG, SAMHSA NIMH The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Action Plan includes activities addressing the needs of individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) as well as those at high risk for developing SMI. This plan targets three goals: reducing the duration of untreated SMI through early engagement in care; improving the quality of care through stronger measurement and accountability; and increasing access to community-based treatment and support services.
HHS Tick-Borne Diseases Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, CMS, FDA, OS NIAID The Tick-Borne Disease Working Group was established by Congress in 2016 as part of the 21st Century Cures Act to provide subject matter expertise and to review federal efforts related to all tick-borne diseases, to help ensure interagency coordination and minimize overlap, and to examine research priorities. The focus of this effort is the development of a report to the Secretary of Health and Human Services and Congress on the findings and any recommendations of the Working Group for the federal response to tick-borne disease prevention, treatment, and research, as well as how to address gaps in these areas.
HHS Viral Hepatitis Interagency Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, IHS, OS, SAMHSA NIDDK, NIDA The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Viral Hepatitis Interagency Working Group was created by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health to address a report sponsored by the Institute of Medicine entitled Hepatitis and Liver Cancer: A National Strategy for Prevention and Control of Hepatitis B and C. The group meets to discuss collaborations and activities directed at achieving the goals for viral hepatitis research and control highlighted in the IOM report. (Although the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) represent the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as Working Group members, other NIH Institutes/Centers/Offices also provide input to the VHIG through their participation in the Trans-NIH Committee on Viral Hepatitis.) The working group developed a 2017-2020 National Viral Hepatitis Action Plan.

Hospice to Palliative Care: Maximizing Patient Preferences and Cost Savings Research Initiative AHRQ CC The goal of the study is to provide rational, patient-defined, evidence-based recommendations to inform the redesign of the Medicare hospice benefit, transitioning policy from the current hospice benefit to a more patient-centered palliative care model.
HRSA Maternal and Child Health Bureau Grand Challenges: remote pregnancy monitoring panelist Research Initiative CDC, CMS, HRSA NICHD This challenge supports innovative technology-based solutions that help providers remotely monitor the health of pregnant women, and empower women to make informed decisions about their own care. The goal of this challenge is to use technology to allow women facing various barriers to care to experience the benefits of an ongoing relationship with a health-care provider to keep them and their children healthy.
