Federal Interagency Health Equity Team (FIHET) - Maternal and Child Health Other OS NICHD The purpose of this team is to serve on various committees to provide input/recommendations on maternal and child health equity.
Federal Interagency Task Force on the Arts and Human Development Research Initiative ACF, ACL, SAMHSA NIA, NCCIH, NICHD, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR Beginning in 2011, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has convened a Federal Interagency Task Force on the Arts and Human Development to encourage more and better research on how the arts can help people reach their full potential at all stages of life. Task force members represent multiple units across federal government, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Education, among others. To date, the Task Force has met quarterly to share ideas and information about research gaps and opportunities for understanding the arts'' role in improving health and educational outcomes throughout the lifespan. The Task Force has conducted a series of public webinars on compelling research and practices. Additionally, the group has begun a literature review of research on the arts and human development. In November 2012, four Task Force member agencies hosted a first-ever convening at the National Academy of Sciences to review the current state of research on the arts, health, and well-being in older Americans.
Federal Interagency Traumatic Brain Injury Research (FITBIR) Working Group Resource Development AHRQ, CDC, HRSA, OS, SAMHSA NINDS, CIT, NCATS, NHLBI, NIA, NIAAA, NIBIB, NICHD, NIDA, NIDCD, NIGMS, NIMH The charge of the Interagency Committee includes promoting collaboration among federal agencies. A goal of this committee is to develop a national “Roadmap” for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This strategic planning effort will represent the collective expertise of providers, educators, advocates, federal/state/national organizations, and individuals with TBI and their families and will result in a consensus document outlining the critical elements of a successful system of care for TBI service delivery.
Federal Partners Committee on Women and Trauma Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, AHRQ, CDC, HRSA, SAMHSA NIDA, NIAID, NIMH, OD/DPCPSI/ORWH Led by the Department of Labor (DOL) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Women and Trauma workgroup includes more than three dozen federal agencies, departments, and offices one of the largest interagency collaborations in federal government history.
Federal Partners in Bullying Prevention, Intervention, and Recovery Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, CDC, HRSA, IHS, SAMHSA NIMH, NIAAA, NICHD, NIDA This workgroup meets to provide a forum through which staff from relevant federal agencies can communicate and exchange ideas concerning how to prevent or stop bullying in schools and communities.
Federal Partners in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACL, CDC, CMS, HRSA, IHS, OSG NIA, NCI, NHLBI, NIDA, NIEHS To share information about current activities related to COPD and discuss opportunities for further cooperation and enhanced effectiveness of the federal response to this serious public health problem.
Federal Partners Working Group-Administration for Community Living (ACL) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACL NINR, NIA, NICHD, NIDCR, NIMH, NIMHD, NINDS This group is made up of representatives from the Administration for Community Living, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, National Institute on Aging, National Institute of Nursing Research, and National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research (NICHD) who are working to identify evidence-based interventions that are ready for dissemination and implementation in community programs and collaboratively support their translation into the community. The group will: work collaboratively to promote dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of promising scientific findings; translate evidence-based interventions to inform policy and improve practice; strengthen the capacity of each respective agency to enhance the health, well-being, and independence of older adults and people with disabilities across the life span, and in various environments. Areas of interest include topics such as: health and wellness; new models of care; community living and participation; and caregiving.
Federal RePORTER Resource Development ACF, AHRQ, CDC, FDA OD/OER STAR METRICS (Science and Technology for America’s Reinvestment Measuring the Effects of Research on Innovation, Competitiveness and Science) is a trans-federal agency consortium that has designed, created, and maintains the Federal RePORTER database. Federal RePORTER is a searchable database of scientific awards from federal agencies and to make this data available to the public. With participation from HHS and non-HHS agencies, this database will allow for portfolio analysis and metrics development across the spectrum of science domains.
Federal Supply and Demand of Isotopes Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NIBIB, NCI This workgroup was formed as follow-up to the Inaugural Workshop on Isotope Federal Supply and Demand, a workshop now held annually. The workgroup consists of representatives of Federal agencies with the aim of providing a forum for interaction between agencies and departments to communicate about potential shortages of isotopes that are of strategic importance to the nation including the availability of medical isotopes. DOE is charged with the production of isotopes that are not commercially available, and coordinates the informational and production efforts. Dr. Roderic Pettigrew, Director of NIBIB is the NIH point of contact on this topic. The workgroup holds an annual workshop that includes all Federal agencies that use isotopes; the workshop promotes discussion on the use, supply and demand of isotopes in various areas including homeland defense, medicine, agriculture, and basic and applied research. The fourth workshop was held in November 2015. A NIH representative participated as a panel member at a congressional briefing on this topic in December 2014. The event was co-sponsored by the American Chemical Society and Research America!
