The charge of the Interagency Committee includes promoting collaboration among federal agencies. A goal of this committee is to develop a national “Roadmap” for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This strategic planning effort will represent the collective expertise of providers, educators, advocates, federal/state/national organizations, and individuals with TBI and their families and will result in a consensus document outlining the critical elements of a successful system of care for TBI service delivery. Another goal is to build and maintain an interagency site like the envisioned www.TBI.gov.

This Interagency Forum was formed with the goal of bringing together Federal agencies that share a common interest in improving aging-related data. The specific goals of the Forum are to improve both the quality and use of data on the aging population.

Federal Interagency Reentry Council: Health Care Access Reentry Workgroup Subcommittee

The Subcommittee is convened by HHS/ASPE to address issues pertaining to the reentry to the community from incarceration. Participants discuss behavioral and mental health policy and research, and how best to reduce health disparities within and among vulnerable populations.

Federal Interagency Task Force on the Arts and Human Development

Beginning in 2011, the NEA has convened a Federal Interagency Task Force on the Arts and Human Development to encourage more and better research on how the arts can help people reach their full potential at all stages of life. Task force members represent multiple units across federal government, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Education, among others. To date, the Task Force has met quarterly to share ideas and information about research gaps and opportunities for understanding the arts'' role in improving health and educational outcomes throughout the lifespan. The Task Force has conducted a series of public webinars on compelling research and practices. Additionally, the group has begun a literature review of research on the arts and human development. And in November 2012, four Task Force member agencies hosted a first-ever convening at the National Academy of Sciences to review the current state of research on the arts, health, and well-being in older Americans.

The Federal Interagency Workgroup on Child Abuse and Neglect meets to provide a forum through which staff from relevant Federal agencies can communicate and exchange ideas concerning the prevention of child maltreatment and other related issues. The Workgroup collects information about Federal child maltreatment activities and provides a basis for collective action through which funding and resources can be maximized.

The federal government is coordinating efforts to address the problem of teen dating violence (TDV) through this workgroup, which serves as a forum for information sharing, cooperation, and collaboration. It meets every 6 weeks to monitor research on TDV and consider how federal agencies might contribute to fighting TDV. In 2009, this working group produced a trans-NIH program announcement (PA) on Research on Teen Dating Violence (TDV).

Led by the Department of Labor (DOL) and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), the Women and Trauma work group includes more than three dozen federal agencies, departments, and offices. It is one of the largest inter agency collaborations in federal government history. The work group published a recent report in September 2013 summarizing the specific progress that participating agencies have made over the past three years (2010-2013).
