INTERMACS is a national registry for patients who are receiving mechanical circulatory support device therapy to treat advanced heart failure. This registry was devised as a joint effort of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, clinicians, scientists, and industry representatives, in conjunction with the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the United Network for Organ Sharing.

The working group focuses on coordinating TB research, which includes studies to characterize drug resistance; the identification, preclinical development and clinical evaluation of new drugs, diagnostics, and vaccines; and studies of the epidemiology and transmission of TB, including research addressing HIV/TB co-infection and TB in high-risk populations.
