Healthy People 2010 - Kidney Disease Public Education Campaign CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, OS NIDDK The office of the Secretary of HHS leads the Healthy People 2010 initiative. The lead agency for most data activities is the CDC. However, for the kidney area, most of the information is provided by NIDDK through the United States Renal Data System.

In particular, the purpose of the activity is to catalyze progress toward achieving the Health People goals through the various phases of prevention, including prevention of the development of risk factors for HDS; detection and treatment of risk factors for HDS; early identification and treatment of HDS especially in the acute phases; and prevention of recurrence and complications of HDS.

Currently, Healthy People 2020 is leading the way to achieve increased quality and years of healthy life and the elimination of health disparities.

Healthy People 2020-Dementias, Including Alzheimer''s Disease Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AoA, CDC NIA, NIMH, NINDS This Healthy People 2020 topic will focus on increasing the awareness of the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, and reducing the proportion of preventable hospitalizations in persons with diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The goal is to reduce the morbidity and costs associated with, and maintain or enhance the quality of life for, persons with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.
