Fresh Perspectives in Perinatal Depression Research: Psychosocial Interventions and Mental Health Services Meeting/ Workshop CDC NIMH, OD On October 5-6, 2010, the NIMH convened a workshop to provide the growing number of early-stage investigators studying psychosocial interventions and mental health services for perinatal depression with the opportunity to discuss research strategies consistent with public health needs and NIMH priorities. NIMH priorities for perinatal depression align with current developments in federal healthcare legislation concerning the mental health of pregnant and post-partum women. With input from the CDC and experts from the broader field of depression research, the workshop incorporated informative and diverse perspective s from outside the immediate field of perinatal mental health.

Genomic Applications in Practice and Prevention Network (GAPPNet™) Other AHRQ, CDC NCI, NHGRI, NIDDK The Genomic Applications in Practice and Prevention Network (GAPPNet™) is a collaborative initiative involving partners from across the public health sector who are working together to realize the promise of genomics in healthcare and disease prevention. GAPPNet™ aims to accelerate and streamline effective and responsible use of validated and useful genomic knowledge and applications, such as genetic tests, technologies, and family history, into clinical and public health practice.

NIEHS represents HHS as GCRP principal in collaboration with CDC.
Global Collaboration Call Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AoA, CDC, FDA, HRSA, SAMHSA NIMH NIMH participates in a biweekly Global Health Collaboration Call, coordinated by the Office of Global Health Affairs (OGHA). OGHA convenes participants from numerous HHS agencies to share relevant information on global health activities.
Global Health Initiative (GHI) Research Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, HRSA, OS FIC, NIAID, NICHD, OD The GHI Research Committee, of which Francis Collins is the Chair, was formed to facilitate the integration, synergy, and strategic alignment of USG research and technical guidance in support of reaching the GHI’s targets through identifying and implementing evidence-based interventions. The GHI Research Committee''s purpose is to advance the utilization and application of existing knowledge and integrated coordinated USG research to support GHI Principle #7, “Research and Innovation”, in the implementation and advancement of the GHI’s strategic goals.
Global Health Security Advisory Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, OS NINDS, NIAID The Global Health Security Advisory Group (GHSAG) is a committee comprising of high level representatives of the national health authorities for the G-8 block of countries, formed to develop and implement concrete actions to improve global health security and serve as a network for rapid response to biological, chemical, radio-nuclear terrorism (CBRN) crises.
Global Strategic Plan to Prevent Harms Associated with Alcohol Misuse Meeting/ Workshop CDC, SAMHSA NIAAA NIAAA represented HHS at the World Health Organization/Pan American Health Organization Western Hemisphere Meeting to Develop a Global Strategic Plan to Prevent Harms Associated with Alcohol Misuse in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in May 2009. After the meeting, NIAAA officials coordinated with officials at CDC and SAMHSA to review the draft Global Strategic Plan to Prevent Harms Associated with Alcohol Misuse.
Glycomics/Glycoscience Needs Meeting/ Workshop FDA NIGMS, NCI, NCATS, NHLBI, NIAID, NIDCR Meeting held September 19, 2011, on the NIH Campus with NIST, NSF, the FDA, and other NIH Institutes to discuss the field of glycomics and how to work together to meet the needs/challenges for this emerging field, including developing high-throughput assays, standards, and databases.
