NGSP (formerly the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program) Research Initiative CDC NIDDK The purpose of the NGSP (formerly the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program) is to standardize Hemoglobin A1c test results to those of the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) and the United Kingdom Prospective Diabetes Study (UKPDS), which established the direct relationships between HbA1c levels and outcome risks in patients with diabetes. NIDDK has provided funding for NGSP research initiatives, and NIDDK Extramural Program staff have served on committees.
NHAS Quality of Life Indicators Subcommittee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACL, CDC, HRSA, SAMHSA NIAID, NIMH, OD/DPCPSI/OAR A working group of representatives from six federal agencies involved in developing and implementing the NHAS was tasked with carefully listening to community input and evaluating options for possible quality of life measures, data sources, and targets that could be adopted and implemented. As a result of their work and community input, the Office of National AIDS Policy ultimately adopted five indicators that reflect the multi-dimensional nature of quality of life among people with HIV. Indicators address self-rated health status, mental health, food insecurity, employment status, and unstable housing or homelessness.
NIAID/BARDA Biannual Meeting for Radiation Medical Countermeasures and Biodosimetry Research Shared Portfolio Discussions Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force BARDA NIAID NIAID and BARDA upate each other regarding status of programs to discuss areas of common interest and possible BARDA handoffs in the radiation medical countermeasures and biodosimetry research space.
NIAID/CDC Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC) Risk Mitigation Reviews Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC NIAID The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Select Agents and Toxins Division will provide technical assistance in evaluating the sufficiency of the biosecurity and/or biosafety measures incorporated into risk mitigation plans received from institutions, and cross-check risk mitigation plans and research conducted using select agents and toxins against information in the Federal Select Agent Program (FSAP) database.
NIAID/FDA Action Team Collaborative for Radiation Research Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NIAID NIAID works with the FDA Office of Commissioner to provide ground-truth research eing carried out in the field of radiation medical countermeasures development, and the FDA shares planned directions and guidance for Animal Rule licensure of these approaches. CBER, CDER, and CDRH all participate in these meetings.

NIH Asian American Pacific Islander Health Scientific Interest Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, HRSA NCI *All NIH ICOs participate AAPI-HSIG BackgroundIn 1999, White House established a first Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) to improve their quality of life and opportunities to participate in federal programs (https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-1999-06-10/pdf/99-14901.pdf (PDF File)). In 2021, the NIH Asian American Pacific Islander Health Scientific Interest Group (AAPI-HSIG) was formed. It is open to all in the intramural and extramural NIH community, as well as HHS staff, with an interest in research relating to the health of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (including Native Hawaii) populations. The group provides a forum to foster scientific communications, share and disseminate information, facilitate collaborations, provide education, assess research needs, and make recommendations to NIH leadership aiming to stimulate research and to improve the health and well-being of AAPI populations. Regular activities include a monthly meeting with research and education seminars, virtual or in-person on NIH campus. Other activities can be both inside and outside the NIH, such as potential conferences and lectures in collaborations with NIH ICOs or other NIH SIG groups and other Federal and Non-Federal entities.
NIH Dissemination and Implementation Working Group Meeting/ Workshop AHRQ, CDC FIC, NCI, NHGRI, NHLBI, NIAAA, NIDA, NIDDK, NIEHS, NIMH, NIMHD, NINR, OD/DPCPSI/ODP Annual Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation is a forum for discussing the science of dissemination and implementation and aims to grow the research base by bridging the gap between evidence, practice, and policy in health and medicine. Researchers, evaluators, and implementers who are interested in identifying opportunities, challenges, and strategies for disseminating the findings and implementation of research to key stakeholders are encouraged to attend. Discuss, debate, and explore in-depth approaches to advance dissemination and implementation science.
