Glaucoma Outcomes Survey Structured Data Capture Resource Development FDA NEI In a recent publication, A Health-Related Quality of Life Measure for Patients Who Undergo Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery, the FDA and their collaborators developed a patient-reported outcome measure to assess the impact of glaucoma and treatment, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery MIGS). The NEI Office of Data Science and Health Informatics is developing a Fast-Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), Structured Data Capture (SDC) representation of the quality-of-life survey instrument. This will ensure that the tool can be represented in standardized file formats that ensure scalability and fidelity across systems and that data collected using the instruments will be consistently collected.
Global Change Research Program Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC FIC, OD/DPCPSI/ONR The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) was established by Congress in 1990 to coordinate federal research and investments in understanding the forces shaping the global environment, both human and natural, and their impacts on society.  USGCRP facilitates collaboration and cooperation across 15 federal member agencies to advance understanding of the changing Earth system. Research supported by USGCRP informs the Nation in navigating the challenges of a changing environment and identifying opportunities for a more resilient future.  Together, USGCRP and its member agencies provide a gateway to authoritative science, tools, and resources to help people and organizations across the country manage risks and respond to changing environmental conditions.
Global Initiative for Cancer Registry Development Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC NCI Cancer incidence and mortality are rising rapidly worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. There is overwhelming need for countries to adopt and implement cancer control actions, yet only one in five low- and middle-income countries have the necessary data to inform policy and research in order to reduce the cancer burden.  Such data are necessary to measure progress toward achieving targets set for the global cancer initiatives.  The Global Initiative for Cancer Registry Development (GICR) is a coordinated, multi-partner approach to deliver the required change. Its objective is to make cancer data count, particularly in lower resource settings, through providing training and technical support to countries in population-based cancer registration and research. GICR is needed to ensure data are available to estimate the global cancer burden as presented on the Global Cancer Observatory.
GlycoBiology Scientific Interest Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NCI, NHGRI, NHLBI, NIAID, NIDCR, NIDDK A core group of laboratories representing several institutes and the FDA, form the postdoctoral training laboratories of the Glycobiology SIG. Laboratory training is augmented with a “Special Topics in Glycobiology Course,” a seminar series and an annual NIH FDA Glycosciences Research Day held each spring that highlights work being done locally in the glycosciences. A Steering Committee composed of both intra and extramural NIH, FDA, NIST and DOE scientists organize the SIGs activities.
Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NCATS The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable is charged with improving the research enterprise of the United States by successfully resolving the cross-sectoral issues that prevent the U.S. research enterprise from reaching its full potential. This mission is achieved by convening senior-most representatives from government, universities, and industry to frame the critical issues, followed – when appropriate – by the execution of activities designed to address specific cross-sectoral impediments to achieving a healthy, vibrant research enterprise. GUIRR provides a unique forum for dialogue among top government, university and industry leaders of the national science and technology enterprise.
GSRS Research Initiative FDA NCATS, OD/OIR GGSRS is a public software and web application that supports the registration and documentation of substances found in medicinal products. Importantly, the definition of substances is based on a global and consistent definition (ISO 11238 standard). The software has been heavily utilized at the FDA since 2016, and has also been adopted by other regulatory agencies and pharma around the world, such as EMA (European Medicines Agency), BfArM (Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices), WHO-UMC, Glaxo-Smith Kline and the United States Pharmacopeia. NCATS provides access to a public instance of the software, publicly available data on substance definitions and properties as provided by the FDA, and also provides detailed documentation on how to install and use the system.  Together, these public resources are widely used by the broader translational research community.
H-CORE Immune Assay CoP Team Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ASPR, BARDA NIAID A continuation of the OWS SARS-CoV-2 Immune Assays Subteam_Assay Working Group but with a more narrow focus on immune correlates of protection.
HDPulse Dissemination and Adaptation Working Group Resource Development OASH NIMHD This working group was established to promote the dissemination of the NIMHD HDPulse interventions portal and its adaptation to include the HHS Office of Minority Health’s (OMH) evidence-informed practices. Building on OMH’s efforts to disseminate and spread evidence-informed practices and NIMHD’s development and maintenance of HDPulse, this working group is expected to achieve the following outcomes:Identification and dissemination of health equity-promoting evidence-informed practices, particularly those focused on addressing racial and ethnic health disparities, through HDPulseIncreased awareness and utilization of HDPulse, including health equity-promoting interventions in the Interventions Portal, by government agencies, organizations, and practitioners serving racial and ethnic minority populations.
Health and Housing Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC NCI, NHLBI, NIA, NICHD, NIDDK, NIEHS, NIMH, NINR, OD/DPCPSI/IMOD, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR, OD/DPCPSI/ODP The Health and Housing Group is made up of representatives from across the NIH, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Members share their agencies’ work at the intersection of health and housing, interests in health and housing research, and data and resources. The group also works together to identify health and housing research gaps, and explores opportunities to collaborate to advance health and housing research. The Health and Housing Group is open to federal staff only.
Health and Retirement Study Health Survey CDC, CMS NIA This study follows more than 20,000 men and women over 50, offering insight into the changing lives of the older US population. Launched in 1992, this multidisciplinary, longitudinal study has become known as the Nation’s leading resource for data on the combined health and economic conditions of older Americans.
