Title Collaboration Type HHS Participating Agencies NIH Participating Institutes, Centers, and Offices Description
Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative Research Initiative FDA NCCIH, NEI, NIA, NIAAA, NIBIB, NICHD, NIDA, NIDCD, NIMH, NINDS, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative is revolutionizing our understanding of the brain by developing and applying innovative technologies to study brain circuits and, ultimately, to develop new ways to treat brain disorders. Circuits of brain cells enable us to think, perceive our world, and act upon it, and disruption of these circuits underlies neurological, psychiatric, and substance misuse disorders. The BRAIN Initiative also facilitates collaborative neuroscience research partnerships, resource meetings, and working groups.
Brain Tumors in the United States Military Research Initiative Not Reported NCI This research initiative focuses on gathering and disseminating epidemiologic data on primary benign and malignant brain and other CNS tumors in the United States Military Veterans population.
BRIDG Standard Development Research Initiative FDA NCI Developing and maintaining a conceptual data model that harmonize EMR data and protocol driven data *also a resource development collaboration type
Bridge to Artificial Intelligence Research Initiative FDA FIC, NCATS, NCCIH, NCI, NEI, NHGRI, NIA, NIAID, NIAMS, NIBIB, NICHD, NIDA, NIGMS, NIMH, NIMHD, NINDS, NLM, OD/All of Us, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR, OD/DPCPSI/ODSS, OD/DPCPSI/OSC The Bridge to Artificial Intelligence (Bridge2AI) program seeks to propel biomedical research forward by setting the stage for widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) that tackles complex biomedical challenges beyond human intuition. Bridge2AI works with representatives from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in order to bring expertise from across the federal government to help develop this groundbreaking new program that aims to harness the power of AI/ML for human health. Bridge2AI is also collaborating with DOE Office of Science program in Advanced Scientific Computing Research to jointly address important issues and challenges in developing AI and machine learning methods for privacy-sensitive datasets.
Brownfields Interagency Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force Not Reported NIEHS Federal forum for agencies to discuss brownfield related activities
Buprenorphine/Vivitrol Clinical trial Research Initiative Not Reported NIDA NIDA has a cooperative agreement with VA/CSP to collaborate on multi-site clinical trials. The goal of the current project is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined treatment with extended-release naltrexone injection and bupropion XL oral tablets in the treatment of methamphetamine use disorder in a12 weeks of treatment 2-arm study. While NIDA is the sponsor of the study,  VA/CSP is supporting the study through their CSP Clinical Research Pharmacy (distribution of investigational product),  CSP Coordinating Center (data management and statistical guidance), and  BREF (Project Management).
Burden of Disease U.S. Health Disparities Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force Not Reported NCI, NHLBI, NIA, NIAMS, NIMHD, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR, OD/DPCPSI/ODP Through this project, the U.S. Burden of Health Disparities Working Group at NIH aims to generate a landmark and comprehensive report and public platform with data on U.S. Burden of Health Disparities by Race/Ethnicity, Sex, Age, Socioeconomic Status and Geography.  The project entails producing detailed county-level estimates of disease burden stratified by race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status (SES), age, and sex for a vast array of diseases, injuries, and risk factors. The report would include a broad set of measures of the burden of disease (e.g., disability-adjusted life years and healthy life expectancy). This project would result in a platform for downloadable, publicly available data review and visualization tools for extracting information on these stratified analyses at the county-level for every U.S. County. CDC/NCVS is providing guidance on vital statistics data, algorithms and procedures used to generate life expectancy estimates, etc., by race and ethnicity.
CADCA Federal Partners Planning Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force SAMHSA NIDA Meet to discuss NIDA's efforts for the yearly National Meeting in February.
Canadian-U.S. Dietary Reference Intakes Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force OASH, AHRQ, CDC, FDA NIDDK, OD/DPCPSI/ODS, OD/DPCPSI/ONR The US and Canadian governments have each established Federal DRI Committees that work collaboratively to identify DRI needs and to coordinate government sponsorship of DRI reviews and related activities. The DRIs — which reflect nutrient reference values essential to national nutrition policies and to professionals working in the field of nutrition and health — have been developed under the auspices of the Institute of Medicine with funding from the US and Canadian governments.
Cancer Cabinet Prevention and Screening Task Force Nutrition Subgroup Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, IHS NCCIH, NCI, NIA, NINR, OD/DPCPSI/ODP The Cancer Cabinet was convened by the White House, bringing together cabinet agencies and relevant departments, including multiple White House components to address progress against cancer in five priority actions.(1) close the screening gap, (2) understand and address environmental exposure, (3) decrease the impact of preventable cancers, (4) bring cutting edge research through the pipeline to patients and communities, and (5) support patients and caregivers. This is an interagency group for developing and disseminating evidence based talking points for federal staff, and compiling resources for public facing purposes and around screening for dietary and nutrition risk factors.
