Title Collaboration Type HHS Participating Agencies NIH Participating Institutes, Centers, and Offices Description
National Biodefense Strategy : NSTC Subcommittee on Biosafety Level 4 Suits Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force Not Reported OD/OM, OD/OM/ORS Committee was formed to develop manufacturing specifications for Biosafety Level 4 suits given that the sole US manufacturer was shutting down their suit production. This left the BSL 4 laboratories totally reliant on foreign based manufacturers and suppliers. The USG determined that they needed to identify specifications and then solicit US based companies to bid on suit manufacturing.
National Board for Education Sciences Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force Not Reported NICHD The National Board for Education Sciences consists of prominent researchers, school administrators, and business executives appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. The overall mission of the Institute is to expand fundamental knowledge and understanding of education and to provide education leaders and practitioners, parents and students, researchers, and the general public with unbiased, reliable, and useful information about the condition and progress of education in the United States; about education policies, programs, and practices that support learning and improve academic achievement and access to educational opportunities for all students; and about the effectiveness of Federal and other education programs. https://ies.ed.gov/director/board/
National Coalition for Oversight of Assisted Reproductive Technologies Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA NICHD The National Coalition for Oversight of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (NCOART) has become a successful forum for discussion of issues by organizations involved in the assisted reproductive technologies (ART) in the United States.
National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) Research Initiative CDC FIC, NCI, NHLBI, NIAMS, NICHD, NIDDK, NIEHS, NIMHD, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR, OD/DPCPSI/ODP, OD/DPCPSI/ODS, OD/DPCPSI/ONR, OD/ECHO The mission of the National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research is to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and application of childhood obesity research, and to halt -- and reverse -- childhood obesity through enhanced coordination, communication, and collaboration. https://www.nccor.org/
National Counterintelligence Task Force Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force Not Reported OD/OM, OD/OM/OMA As the lead U.S. counterintelligence agency, the FBI is responsible for detecting and lawfully countering the actions of foreign intelligence services and organizations as they seek to adversely affect U.S. national interests. National COVID Cohort Collaborative (N3C) Resource Development ASPE, ASPR, CDC, CMS, FDA ARPA-H, NCATS, NIGMS The N3C is a partnership among the NCATS-supported Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program hubs, the National Center for Data to Health (CD2H), and NIGMS-supported Institutional Development Award Networks for Clinical and Translational Research (IDeA-CTR), to provide clinical data in close to real time to improve our knowledge of COVID-19 and potential treatment strategies. Collaborators will contribute and use COVID-19 clinical data to answer critical research questions to address the pandemic. As the largest limited dataset in US history with more than 11 million participants (https://covid.cd2h.org/), the N3C initiative has demonstrated that it is possible to conduct science/learning healthcare across a large network, share and harmonize sensitive clinical data across modalities at a national scale and to realize the promise of precision medicine. The N3C effort is centered on the following: Establishing a secure data repository (the N3C Data Enclave) for studying COVID-19-related data. Receiving existing patient data derived from electronic health records (EHRs) provided by participating U.S. health care sites. Providing operational support for researchers using the N3C Data Enclave to navigate in the N3C platform and collaborate on COVID-19 research. Ensuring research using the N3C Data Enclave follows the rules and expectations of NCATS and its partners to keep the data secure and protect patient privacy.
National Database for Antibiotic Resistant Organisms (NDARO) Resource Development CDC, FDA FIC, NCATS, NCI, NHLBI, NIA, NIAAA, NIAID, NIDA The objective of this collaboration is to produce a collection of high-quality genome sequences from antibiotic-resistant strains and to create and maintain a publicly accessible database -- National Database for antibiotic resistance (AR), developed and housed at the National Center for Biotechnology Information of the National Library of Medicine (NLM).
National Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) Meeting Meeting/ Workshop CDC, HRSA, OASH NIAID, NICHD, NIDA, NIMH, OD/DPCPSI/OAR On September 15, 2022, 350 researchers, government leaders, public health partners, and community members from throughout the U.S. participated in the hybrid "2nd National Meeting for Research and Community Collaboration towards Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) in the U.S. Meeting" hosted by the NIH and the UAB CFAR. The meeting featured presentations by academic investigators and their implementation and community partners funded through NIH EHE awards and promoted the sharing of best practices and generalizable findings.
National Health Interview Survey Health Survey CDC NEI The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) monitors the health of the nation. NHIS data on a broad range of health topics are collected through personal household interviews. NEI is funding vision supplements, with data to be expected in 2024.
National Health Interview Survey (NIHS) Cancer Control Supplement Health Survey CDC NCI The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) - started in 1957 - is a continuous, nationwide in-person survey of the U.S. civilian non-institutionalized population. An estimated 27,000 sample adult and 9,000 sample child interviews are expected to be completed annually. NCI sponsors an annual Cancer Control Supplement (CCS) to the NHIS, which is administered to the sample adult in the selected household. The CCS focuses on the surveillance of cancer screening use, cancer risk assessment practices, and cancer-related health behaviors in the U.S.
