HHS Border Health Intra-agency Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, AHRQ, CDC, FDA, HRSA, OS NICHD, NIA, NIAID, NIDDK, NIMH, NIMHD This intra-agency workgroup allows for the exchange of information and cooperation among the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies on issues related to border health. The purpose of this group is to convene HHS components that have a vested interest in US-Mexico border health issues to provide a platform for discussion, coordinate efforts, and potentially identify mutual areas of collaboration to improve the health and quality of life for border residents.
HHS Coordination Operations and Response Element (previously Operation Warp Speed) (H-CORE/OWS) Research Initiative CDC, FDA, ASPR NIAID A program designed to coordinate and respond to the public health emergency by expediting the development of vaccines, treatments, testing and other measures as needed.
HHS DATA Act Compliance Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ASFR OD/OER, OD/OM/NBS The HHS Assistant Secretary for Financial Resources (ASFR) coordinates OPDIV activities including communications, implementation, and compliance with the DATA Act.
HHS Data Council Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, ACL, AHRQ, ASA, ASFR, ASPA, ASPE, ASPR, ATSDR, CDC, CMS, FDA, GDM, HRSA, IHS, ONC, OMHA OD/OER, NLM, NIGMS, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR, OD/DPCPSI/ODSS, OD/DPCPSI/SGMRO The HHS Data Council is the principal internal advisory body to the Secretary on health and human services data policy. The Council coordinates data collection and analysis activities in HHS, including an integrated data collection strategy as well as coordination of health data standards and privacy policy. The Council consists of senior level officials designated by their agency and staff office heads, the director of the national center for health statistics, and the HHS privacy advocate. It is co-chaired by the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation on a permanent basis and the head of an operating division on a rotating basis. A subcommittee of the HHS Data Council, the Data-Oriented Workforce Subcommittee, is composed of staff from 10 HHS agencies, including the NIH. This subcommittee is charged with developing a high-level work plan to enhance the data science capacity of HHS’ workforce by identifying training opportunities for existing staff, recruitment strategies and tools to hire new staff, and retention and succession planning strategies to sustain the data science workforce.
HHS Data Governance Board Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force OCIIO, ASPE, CDC, ACF, ACL, AHRQ, CMS, FDA, HRSA, IHS, SAMHSA, ASFR, ASPA, ASPR, OIG OD/DPCPSI/ODSS, OD/OSP The purpose of the DGB is to serve as the Department's principal data governance forum and decision-making body for managing HHS; data as a strategic asset to support HHS in meeting its mission and agency priorities, including implementation of the Evidence Act. In accordance with OMB M-19-23, the DGB will Support agency priorities, such as those identified in strategic plans and learning agendas, by informing strategic information resources management plans for the agency and identifying resources to implement those priorities; Coordinate and support implementation of data management responsibilities with agency data-management actors to strengthen strategic plans and learning agendas; Set agency data policy in a manner that complements, but does not supplant the statutory authority of established positions; and Coordinate implementation of the Federal Data Strategy by assessing data maturity, risks, and capabilities to recommend related data investment priorities. In accordance with the Geospatial Data Act, the DGB will: Ensure that HHS and its components fully implement the covered agency responsibilities found in GDA section 759(a). HHS Dietary Guidance Review Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACF, CDC, FDA, HRSA, IHS, OASH OD/DPCPSI/ONR, NIDDK This committee reviews draft nutrition materials developed by all federal agencies and fulfills the legislative mandate (1990 NNMRRA) to ensure that Federal dietary guidance is consistent with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and is scientifically accurate.
HHS Disability Collaborative Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ACL, AHRQ, ASPA, ASPE, ASFR, ASA, ASPR, ACF, CDC, CMS, OASH, OCR, ONC, OIG, OGA, HRSA, SAMHSA, FDA, IHS NIA, NICHD The HHS Collaborative is for OpDivs and StaffDivs to work in partnership on issues that impact person with disabilities. This group will address emerging issues, funding announcements, research and evaluation, pre-clearance conversations, special events, announcements, and rollouts. Anticipated results includes enhanced communication across agencies, elevated focus on key disability issues, improved awareness and coordinated messaging, alignments of budgets and policy proposal, and enhanced knowledge transfer across HHS. This is not a governing body. The lead organizations are ACL and ASPE.

HHS Environmental Justice and Natural Disasters Working Group (EJ) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force ASPR, OASH, CDC, HRSA NIEHS Environmental Justice is “the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies”. Executive Order 12898, Federal Actions to Address Environmental Justice in Minority Populations and Low-income Populations requires each Federal agency to “make achieving environmental justice part of its mission by identifying and addressing, as appropriate, disproportionately high and adverse human health or environmental effects of its programs, policies, and activities on minority populations and low-income populations.” The Executive Order also states that “each Federal agency responsibility set forth under this order shall apply equally to Native American programs.”
HHS Environmental Justice Working Group (EJWG) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force OASH OD/DPCPSI/SGMRO, NIEHS This group is designed to foster collaboration across HHS for the purposes of coordinating activities that pertain to EJ. Please note NIEHS is the lead IC on this collaboration, not SGMRO.
