NIAID International tuberculosis (TB) Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, FDA, IHS, OS NIAID, FIC, NHLBI, NICHD, NIDA The working group focuses on coordinating tuberculosis (TB) research, which includes: studies to characterize drug resistance; the identification, preclinical development and clinical evaluation of new drugs, diagnostics, and vaccines; and studies of the epidemiology and transmission of TB, including research addressing HIV/TB co-infection and TB in high-risk populations.
NIAID-CDC Joint U.S. Partnership Implementing TB Elimination Research (JUPITER) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC NIAID Through weekly teleconferences, the Joint U.S. Partnership Implementing TB Elimination Research (JUPITER) facilitates cooperation, communication, and collaboration on tuberculosis between the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This approach helps ensure that Federal activities are coordinated and not duplicated, and stimulates collaborations where appropriate.
NIAID/CDC Select Agents Laboratory Inspections Other CDC NIAID The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division of Select Agents and Toxins laboratory inspectors visit foreign National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) grantees on behalf of NIAID to ensure that foreign select agents laboratories follow safety, security, and training standards comparable to those for U.S. institutions.
NICHD-Electronic Health Record Pediatric Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) Research Initiative HRSA NICHD This Interdepartmental Delegation Authority (IDDA) (NIH-13-030) funds the following activities: Electronic Health Record (EHR) Pediatric Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) Initiative; and Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) and epidemiologic assessments of the use of selected psychotropic medications and the most commonly prescribed asthma medications in pediatric populations.
NICHD-Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Electronic Health Record (EHR) Research Initiative HRSA NICHD This Interdepartmental Delegation Authority (IDDA) (NIH-13-031) provides funds for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Electronic Health Record (EHR) Pediatric Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) Initiative.

NIH Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, OS OD/OSP, NCI, NHGRI, NIAID, NINDS The Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee (RAC) advises the National Institutes of Health on the safe and ethical conduct of basic and clinical research involving recombinant DNA. It reviews protocols and provides recommendations for each protocol to enhance the scientific and ethical design. The RAC also discusses safety data and other emerging issues for the field of gene therapy. This year the RAC hosted a meeting to develop biosafety guidelines for gain-of-function research with H5N1 which led to the amendment of the NIH Guidelines for Research with Synthetic and Recombinant Research. The RAC also hosted a meeting of mid-level investigators to examine the scientific and other challenges that gene therapy will face in the next decade and a meeting to discuss optimization of the design of clinical trials using gene modified T cells in order to realize the potential of this immunotherapy while minimizing the risk to subjects.
