Trans-NIH Nanotechnology Task Force: National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) Call For Trans-agency Signature Initiatives Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NIDCR, NHLBI, NIBIB, NIDCD In response to NNI’s call for Signature Initiatives, the NIH Nanotechnology Task Force (NIDCR and NIBIB representatives) together with FDA and other Federal Agencies (NIST, NSF, and DoD) have generated a draft of the Initiative entitled “Nano-Regenerative Medicine”. The overarching goals of this Initiative are to develop robust and efficient platforms for standardization, fabrication, GMP manufacturing, and regulatory approval of nanotechnology-based products that will lead to new paradigms in low-cost therapies targeting regeneration of a range of tissues in the human body affected by disease and injury. On July 24, 2009, the draft of the Initiative was submitted for review to the Office of Science and Technology Policy through NNI. In 2010, a trans-Federal Agency Working Group was formed to continue the development of this Initiative.

Broad input is solicited from scientists from NIH, other government agencies, and non-governmental organizations, as well as community representatives and other experts from the United States and abroad.
Transition to Fatherhood Research Initiative OS NICHD This research examines the social and economic consequences of teenage or early fatherhood. This IAA is an administrative supplement to the NICHD Transition to Fatherhood Grant-5P01HD045610-05 that assists in developing better pregnancy prevention policies for young men by improving understanding of the social and economic consequences of early and premature transitions to fatherhood. This grant supplement will undertake secondary data analysis of multiple longitudinal datasets to examine if the consequences of premature parenting are different for men than for women. This information is needed in order to inform the development of effective pregnancy prevention strategies for young men.
Translational Research to Help Older Adults Maintain their Health and Independence in the Community Research Initiative AoA NIA The National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the Administration on Aging (AoA) have partnered to solicit applications using the NIH R01 or R21 award mechanisms for translational research that moves evidence-based research findings towards the development of new interventions, programs, policies, practices, and tools that can be used by community-based organizations to help elderly individuals remain healthy and independent, and living in their own homes and communities. The goal of this initiative is to support translational research involving collaborations between academic research centers and community-based organizations with expertise serving the elderly (such as city and state health departments, city/town leadership councils, and Area Agencies on Aging) that will enhance our understanding of practical tools, techniques, programs and policies that communities across the nation can use to more effectively respond to needs of their aging populations.
Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies Advisory Committee (TSEAC) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NIAID The Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies Advisory Committee (TSEAC) reviews and evaluates available scientific data concerning the safety of products which may be at risk for transmission of spongiform encephalopathies having an impact on the public health as determined by the Commissioner of Food and Drugs. The Committee shall consist of a core of 15 voting members, including the Chair. Members and the Chair are selected by the Commissioner or designee from among authorities knowledgeable in the fields of clinical and administrative medicine, hematology, virology, neurovirology, neurology, infectious diseases, immunology, transfusion medicine, surgery, internal medicine, biochemistry, biostatistics, epidemiology, biological and physical sciences, sociology/ethics, and other related professions.
Transplant Cancer Match Study Research Initiative HRSA NCI A study linking databases of U.S. transplant recipients, donors, and wait list candidates to multiple U.S. cancer registries to evaluate the spectrum of cancer risk in transplant recipients.
Traumatic Brain Injury Common Data Elements Standards - Interagency Steering Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC NINDS The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Common Data Elements (CDE) Standards – Interagency Steering Committee provides oversight to a federal scientific initiative to develop common data elements for TBI.
Treatment Options for Type 2 Diabetes in Adolescents and Youth (TODAY) Research Initiative CDC NIDDK TODAY is a multi-center clinical research study examining the safety and efficacy of three treatment options for type 2 diabetes in the pediatric population. TODAY was initiated due to the increase in type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents, which itself is linked to the rise in obesity.
Trends in Health and Aging Resource Development CDC NIA A data archive of trend tables with health indicators displayed over time and by age, sex, and race/ethnicity. A Web-based tool developed and maintained by the National Center for Health Statistics, attempts to connect consumers of information on health and aging with suppliers of such data by providing user-friendly access to up-to-date information on the health and well-being of older Americans.
