Outdoor Pride Picnic – June 7, 2022, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET at NIH Main Campus
This will be a social event in observance of Pride Month, bringing members of SGM communities and their allies together at NIH for an outdoor picnic in celebration. This event will be held by the South Entrance of the Clinical Center and will be co-hosted by the NIH Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Salutaris: The NIH Sexual & Gender Minority (SGM) Employee Resource Group (ERG). ORS coordinated food trucks will be on site.
Pride Edition SGMRO Scientific Webinar Series on NASEM Report – June 9, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET
The next event in the SGMRO Scientific Webinar Series will be a panel on the NASEM Report on Measuring Sex, Gender Identity, and Sexual Orientation on June 9th. Members of the consensus study panel will present on the development, scope, and recommendations of the report. Click here to learn more.
Capital Pride Alliance Pride Parade – June 11, 2022, a Day-long event in Washington, D.C.
Members of the NIH community are welcome to march in the Capital Pride Alliance Pride Parade with a contingent of federal employees who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or as allies. This contingent is being organized by PRIDE in Federal Service (PFS), an interagency group comprised of LGBTQ+ employees and their allies. The parade is expected to loop around the District neighborhoods of Logan Circle and Dupont Circle from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and line-up times are tentatively between 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Click here to learn more.
Twitter Chat on “Intersecting Identities: Experiences of LGBTQIA+ People in the Workforce” – June 15, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET
EDI will be hosting a Twitter Chat to engage with the NIH community in a discussion about how intersecting identities shape and impact the workplace and overall life experiences of LGBTQIA+ people. Twitter Chats are great for building community, sharing knowledge, enhancing mutual understanding, and providing a safe place for meaningful dialogue. All members of the NIH community are invited to participate in this Twitter Chat and share their experiences, should they wish. This Twitter Chat will be a precursor to a larger virtual panel later in the month, also hosted by EDI.
Panel on “Together Towards Discovery: The Impact of Intersecting Identities on Work at NIH” – June 22, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET via Virtual Meeting
Building off on the June 15th Twitter Chat, EDI and Salutaris will be co-hosting a special virtual event on “Together Towards Discovery: The Impact of Intersecting Identities on Work at NIH.” This event will feature a diverse panel of invited speakers from different components across the NIH who will be led through a moderated discussion.
NIH Grantspersonship Webinar – June 22, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET
The NIH SGM Health Scientific Interest Group (SIG) will be holding an NIH Grantspersonship Workshop on June 22nd. The workshop will cover grantspersonship and the peer review process for trainees, as well as breakout sessions with Dr. Gregory Greenwood (NIMH), Dr. Bob Freeman (NIAAA), Dr. Rich Jenkins (NIDA), and Dr. Janetta Lun (CSR) where participants can ask about IC research priorities and tips on how to submit a grant application.

This year, the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion awards community members and allies who help to create safer spaces for sexual and gender minorities (SGM) at the NIH. These awardees lead by example and encourage others to demonstrate unconditional compassion, leadership, and understanding towards members of the SGM community. We are seeking award recipient nominations for individuals who help to advance SGM research or help to make NIH a more welcoming environment for individuals in SGM communities.This award is open to all NIH employees, fellows, and contractors. We want to honor those who encourage others by their example, who demonstrate unconditional compassion and understanding towards this community, and who bring more of themselves into the workplace to make it more inclusive for the specific, named groups that are encompassed under the SGM umbrella.
Pride at NIH 2017
Please join us June 28th from 2:00-3:30PM, Building 40, Room 1201, as we celebrate Pride with a panel discussion on LGBT data collection in the federal workforce. The panel is entitled, "Making Our Stories Count," and features experts from Transhealth, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the World Bank, and the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC).
