JDRF/NIH Beta Cell Replacement Workshop Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NIAID, NIDDK JDRF and NIH have partnered to plan the workshop “How Do We Get to the Clinic with Beta Cell Therapies for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)” for May 18-19, 2022 on the NIH campus. This meeting will focus on developing the paradigm in research and development for T1D shifts toward clinical translation and testing of cell based therapies. We would like to bring the community of T1D researchers, industry, regulators and patients together to discuss the ways we can accelerate the translation of beta cell replacement therapies to the clinic and identifying ways to address gaps that remain.
Joint Agency Microbiome Working Group (JAM) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA OD/DPCPSI/ONR The Joint Agency Microbiome (JAM) Working Group's mission is to communicate, across Federal Agencies, ongoing microbiome-focused research.The JAM was founded in 2017 by researchers from FDA and NIH. In 2019, NIST joined the JAM. And in 2021, USDA joined the JAM. The JAM has quarterly virtual meetings.
Joint Agency Nutrition Working Group (JAN) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA OD/DPCPSI/ONR, NICHD, NIDDK, OD/DPCPSI The Joint Agency Nutrition (JAN) was established to address gaps and opportunities in the areas of dietary supplements and nutrition research related to pregnant women and children and chronic diseases. The Working Group reports to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Joint Leadership Council.
Joint CC/OASH Program regarding the National Blood Shortage Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force OASH CC The CC has been working with Admiral Rachel Levine and the OASH staff to address the national blood shortage and identify short-, medium-, and long-term solutions.
Joint External Evaluation Working Group (JEEWG) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, OS OD/OSP, NCI, NIEHS, NINDS, OD/ORS Supports the Global Health Security Agenda activities related to International Health Regulations implementation to include internal and external joint evaluations, draft a National Action Plan (NAP) to address recommendations, and periodically review and report the status of the NAP.
Joint Fellowship Program Training Initiative FDA NCI The objective of the NCI-FDA Joint Fellowship Training Program is to train a cadre of scientists in research and research-related regulatory review, policies, and regulations so that they develop a skill set bridging the two disparate processes. Fellows learn to build awareness of regulatory requirements into the early stages of the medical product development process and develop strategies to improve planning throughout research and regulatory review.

Research Initiative ACF, HRSA, IHS, OASH OD/DPCPSI/ORWH, NCATS, NCCIH, NHLBI, NIA, NIAID, NICHD, NIDDK, NIEHS, NINR, NIMH, NIMHD, OD/DPCPSI/ODP, NIBIB, OD/DPCPSI In an effort to advance the conversation and research on maternal morbidity and mortality (MMM), scientists across NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices, other Health and Human Services agencies, and academic institutions and other organizations collaborated to address aspects of this critical public health issue from multiple vantage points. Over 80 authors from these partnering entities contributed to the development of 21 articles on MMM.
Justice40/Environmental Justice Stakeholder Engagement Meeting Meeting/ Workshop ASPR, OASH, CDC, HRSA NIEHS The NIEHS Environmental Career Worker Training Program (ECWTP) has been named a pilot program for the White House’s Justice40 Initiative. This meeting was held to engage stakeholders to learn about ECWTP and hear feedback for future directions.
Kaposi Sarcoma and HHV8 in Sickle Cell and Other Ugandan Populations Research Initiative CDC NCI Epidemiological studies are being conducted to assess small-area variation of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (HHV8) and to learn about socio-demographical and environmental risk factors for HHV8 and Kaposi sarcoma in Uganda.
Kidney Innovation Accelerator (KidneyX) Research Initiative FDA NIDDK, NCATS KidneyX, also called the Kidney Innovation Accelerator, is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the American Society of Nephrology (ASN). Established in April 2018, KidneyX aims to use prize competitions to accelerate the development of innovative solutions that can prevent, diagnose, and/or treat kidney diseases. KidneyX aims to promote collaboration between patients, health professionals, innovators, industry, and government with the ultimate goal of improving quality of life for people living with kidney diseases.
