The goal of this work group is to develop a coordinated view of what the Federal government is undertaking in telehealth, in an effort to identify possible collaboration mechanisms and share lessons learned across multiple agencies. Current topics of emphasis include Telehealth and Health Information Technology (HIT); Technology, Innovation and Standards; Public Education of Telehealth; and Access to Health Care.

The Filovirus Animal Non-Clinical Group (FANG) focuses on the advanced development of Filovirus medical countermeasures (MCM), both vaccines and therapeutics. The FANG focuses on the product development tools and other interagency product development issues relevant to FDA approval of filovirus MCM. A standing interagency working group, the Portfolio Advisory Committee, oversees the FANG. The FANG will develop strategies to address broadly applicable and interagency product development issues relevant to licensure of filovirus MCM. The FANG will develop consensus recommendations to facilitate standardization of reagents, methods, and procedures across multiple agencies and laboratories.

The Biomarkers Consortium is a major public-private biomedical research partnership managed by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) with broad participation from stakeholders across the health field, including government, industry, academia, patient advocacy and other not-for-profit organizations. In addition to the FNIH, founding members include the National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration, and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. The Biomarkers Consortium brings together the expertise and resources of various partners to rapidly identify, develop, and qualify potential high-impact biomarkers to enable improvements in drug development, clinical care, and regulatory decision-making.

The Focus on Aging: Federal Partners'' Webinar Series addresses important topics for public health and health care professionals, aging services organizations, the research community, and other stakeholders in aging. The series is a joint project of four of the federal agencies that support the health and wellness of older adults in the U.S.: the Administration for Community Living, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the National Institute on Aging. Each webinar includes information specific to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, as well as their caregivers.

The Partnership for Accelerating Cancer Therapies (PACT) is a five-year public-private research collaboration totaling $215 million launched by the National Institutes of Health, the FNIH (Foundation for the NIH) and 11 leading pharmaceutical companies as part of the Cancer Moonshot. PACT will initially focus on efforts to identify, develop and validate robust biomarkers — standardized biological markers of disease and treatment response — to advance new immunotherapy treatments that harness the immune system to attack cancer. The partnership will be managed by the FNIH, with the Food and Drug Administration serving in an advisory role.

The Funding Opportunity Announcement Module (FOAM) allows National Institutes of Health (NIH) Institutes and Centers and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Operating Divisions to develop content for and perform the needed approvals to publish funding opportunity announcements. The system has a flexible configuration to meet all of the needs for HHS Operating Divisions. In addition FOAM serves as a Federal Shared Service in collaboration with Grant Solutions supporting other agencies including Department of the Interior, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Department of Homeland Security. FOAM achieves economies of scale by preventing the need for individual agencies to develop duplicate systems at a cost much greater than that of developing a unified system.
