The National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) Serves as Co-Chair with FDA on this inter-agency subcommittee addressing prescription drug abuse.

The BHCC is tasked with assuring that agencies coordinate their activities related to addressing the needs of and services for persons with behavioral healthcare concerns, particularly but not exclusively those with serious mental illness (SMI). The new charge of the Trauma and Early Intervention Subcommittee is the creation of a Primer on Trauma-Informed Human Services that will summarize the practical implications of recent research about trauma, toxic stress, executive functioning, and related constructs for managers and administrators of HHS-supported human services programs.

The Behavioral Health/Primary Care Integration Subcommittee addresses the need to improve the integration of mental health and primary care services. This group convenes bi-monthly to share agency initiatives in this area and collaborate on new initiatives to promote this integration.
