Regional Grant Writing and Scientific Peer Review Workshop Meeting/ Workshop CDC NCI, CSR, FIC, NHLBI, NIAID, NICHD, NIDA, NIMH, NINDS, OD/DPCPSI/OAR, OD/DPCPSI/ODP The Center for Global Health of the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) in collaboration with the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) holds regional grant writing and peer review workshops to encourage investigators to address public health issues through research. The objectives of the workshops are to (1) increase the participation of scientists from mid- to low-resource countries in the research grant process; (2) develop strategies for sustainable research support and collaborations, and; (3) use competitive research as a tool to address global health issues.
Registry of Patient Registries (RoPR) Project Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ NIDDK, NLM The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is working to design and deploy Registry of Patient Registries (RoPR), which will create a searchable central listing of patient registries in the United States that will be integrated with ClinicalTrials.gov. As part of this project, broad consultations were carried out with relevant groups. Staff of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) participated extensively in these consultations.
Rehabilitation Research: Moving the Field Forward Meeting/ Workshop ACL, FDA NICHD, NIBIB, NINDS, NINR The meeting was an opportunity to highlight the field, identify gaps and possibilities in rehabilitation research, discuss infrastructure needs, and highlight training and career development opportunities. During the meeting, input was solicited from the audience, including scientists, clinicians, policy makers, professional groups and public advocates, in order to further refine the recommendations and identify potential activities to advance the NIH Rehabilitation Research Plan.
Research and Surveillance Working Group of the HHS LGBT Policies Coordinating Committee Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, CMS, FDA, IHS, OS, SAMHSA OD/DPSCSI/SGMRO The Working Group is a cross-Departmental group that initiates dialogue to help harmonize efforts and prevent duplication with respect to LGBT/SGM research.

Research to Guide Practice Enhancing HIV/AIDS Platforms to Address Non- Communicable Diseases in Low Resource Settings (PEPFAR-NCD) Research Initiative CDC FIC, NCI, NHLBI, NIAID, NICHD, NIDDK, NIMH, NIMHD, NINDS, NINR, OD/DPCPSI/OAR Research to guide practice: Enhancing HIV/AIDS platforms to address NCDs in low-resource settings (the PEPFAR-NCD Project) aims to bring together researchers, implementers and government representatives to articulate practical goals, approaches and a related research agenda to incorporate prevention, care and treatment for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) into HIV/AIDS platforms in sub-Saharan Africa. The PEPFAR-NCD project focuses on people living with HIV (PLWH), many of whom are being treated successfully for HIV, but who are increasingly experiencing co-morbid diseases or conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and depression. This project has produce landscape analyses and is establishing research agendas, priorities, and products, including modeled data, to enhance NCD services through PEPFAR platforms.

Revision of CDC Guidelines Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC CC The collaboration serves to revise guidelines for managing occupational exposures to HIV and managing healthcare workers infected with hepatitis B.
RISING-SUN Initiative U.S. Government Working Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, SAMHSA NIMH Reducing the Incidence of Suicide in Indigenous Groups – Strengths United through Networks (RISING SUN) Initiative is a collaborative effort among key international stakeholders from Arctic Council States affected by suicide, and includes mental health researchers, service providers, government officials, and indigenous community members. The RISING-SUN U.S. Government working group convenes Department of Health and Human Services members of the RISING SUN Scientific Advisory Group (National Institute of Mental Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) and Department of State staff who support the activities of the Arctic Council''s Sustainable Development working group. The RISING-SUN U.S. Government working group exchanges information that facilitates the conduct of the RISING SUN initiative, which is coordinated by NIMH.
