It is the only population-based registry in the U.S. that collects information to help scientists learn more about who gets ALS and its causes.
National Asthma Control Initiative (NACI)/National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Public Education Campaign CDC, FDA NHLBI, NIAID, NIEHS The National Asthma Control Initiative (NACI) is a national effort to facilitate implementation of the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) Expert Panel Report 3: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma. The NAEPP, which was initiated in 1989, seeks to enhance the quality of life for patients with asthma and decrease asthma-related morbidity and mortality by improving asthma awareness, diagnosis, and treatment.

National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) Scientific Steering Committees Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force FDA NCI Scientific Steering Committees (SSCs) are composed of leading cancer experts and advocates from outside the Institute as well as NCI senior investigators who meet regularly to: (1) increase the transparency and openness of the trial design and prioritization process; (2) enhance patient advocate and community oncologist involvement in clinical trial design and prioritization; (3) convene Clinical Trial Planning Meetings to identify critical questions, unmet needs, and prioritize key strategies.
National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) Initiatives Research Initiative CDC NIDDK, NCI, NHLBI, NICHD, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR, OD/DPCPSI/ODP The National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research (NCCOR) brings together four of the nation’s leading research funders – the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the U. S. Department of Agriculture – to address the problem of childhood obesity in America. NCCOR focuses on efforts that have the potential to benefit children, teens, their families, and the communities in which they live. A special emphasis is put on the populations and communities in which obesity rates are highest and rising the fastest. NCCOR''s goals are to identify intervention needs, improve child obesity surveillance, improve research and evaluation methodologies, and provide national leadership to implement evidence-based practice and policy. NCCOR also works with many non-health partners to develop sustainable environmental design and food systems strategies to reach high risk populations and communities.
