TODAY was initiated due to the increase in type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents, which itself is linked to the rise in obesity.

Tuberculosis (TB) Diagnostics Research Forum Other CDC NIAID The purpose of the Forum is to communicate, coordinate, and collaborate to address issues of Tuberculosis (TB) diagnostics, especially drug susceptibility testing (DST) for new drugs and regimens. The initial focus was to bring together researchers, clinicians, clinical trial groups, government, and non‐government organizations with both the drug and diagnostic industry to advance the field of pyrazinamide (PZA) DST to meet the needs of clinical trials scheduled for 2013. In addition, the Forum will expand to other drugs including FQ and new anti-tuberculosis drugs in the pipeline.
Tuberculosis (TB) Therapeutics Research Coordination Forum Other CDC NIAID The purpose of the Tuberculosis (TB) Therapeutics Research Coordination Forum (“the Forum”) is to support and sustain discussion, information sharing, and decision making to coordinate clinical trials of new Tuberculosis (TB) drug combinations. The overall goal is to advance new therapies rapidly and cost-effectively while maintaining the highest standards of scientific rigor. The Forum will work to coordinate planning among the major non-commercial sponsors and their research groups to ensure rapid and efficient Phase II evaluations of drug combinations.

NNI activities support the development of new tools and methods required for the research that will enable risk analysis and assist in regulatory decision-making. NNI agencies engage and interact with regional, state, and local groups, educational institutions, industry-supported groups, and non-governmental organizations to enhance the impact and value of NNI efforts and to provide a collaborative approach.
