Title Collaboration Type HHS Participating Agencies NIH Participating Institutes, Centers, and Offices Description
Topic Refinement Panel for Peripheral Artery Disease (AHRQ) and Duke University Evidence-based Practice Center Meeting/ Workshop AHRQ NHLBI The Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center (EPC) is working with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to conduct a comparative effectiveness review on the topic of Treatment Strategies for Patients With Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). The Technical Expert Panel (TEP) members provide expertise in the project research area to support the team of EPC investigators. TEP participation consists of attending 1-2 teleconferences over the course of roughly 12 months to discuss the protocol, key questions, analytical framework, literature search strategy, and other project-specific questions regarding report structure and data to be abstracted from the literature for inclusion in the report.
Toxicology in the 21st Century (Tox21) Program Research Initiative FDA OD/OSP, NCATS, NIEHS The Tox21 initiative, championed by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), was formed to develop high-throughput screening tests that measure cellular harm caused by environmental chemicals. The goals of the Tox21 initiative are to identify patterns of compound-induced biological response in order to characterize toxicity and disease pathways, facilitate cross-species extrapolation, and model low dose extrapolation, to prioritize compounds for more extensive toxicological evaluation, and finally, to develop predictive models for biological response in humans.
Trans-Atlantic Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance (TATFAR) Other CDC, FDA, OS NIAID The presidential declaration issued at the 2009 EU-US summit called for the creation of “a transatlantic task force on urgent antimicrobial resistance issues focused on appropriate therapeutic use of antimicrobial drugs in the medical and veterinary communities, prevention of both healthcare- and community-associated drug-resistant infections, and strategies for improving the pipeline of new antimicrobial drugs, which could be better addressed by intensified cooperation between us”. The objectives of the Task Force are to increase the mutual understanding of US and EU activities and programs relevant to the antimicrobial resistance issues identified in the declaration to deepen the transatlantic dialogue, to provide opportunities to learn from each other, and to promote information exchange, coordination and co-operation.
Trans-NIH American Indian and Alaska Native Health Communications and Information Workgroup Meeting/ Workshop IHS NIAMS, NCATS, NCI, NEI, NHGRI, NHLBI, NIA, NICHD, NIDA, NIDCD, NIDCR, NIDDK, NIGMS, NINDS, NLM Provides a forum for health education and communications staff from across NIH to share strategies and learn effective approaches to develop and disseminate health information designed for American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
Trans-NIH Plan for HIV-Related Research Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, HRSA, OS OD/OSP, CC, CSR, FIC, NCATS, NCCAM, NCI, NEI, NHGRI, NHLBI, NIA, NIAAA, NIAID, NIAMS, NICHD, NIDA, NIDCD, NIDCR, NIDDK, NIEHS, NIGMS, NIMH, NIMHD, NINDS, NINR, NLM, OD/DPCPSI/OAR, OD/DPCPSI/ORIP, OD/DPCPSI/ORWH Authorized by section 2353 of the Public Health Service Act, this annual collaborative planning process establishes scientific priorities for all NIH AIDS research. Broad input is solicited from scientists from NIH, other government agencies, and non-governmental organizations, as well as community representatives and other experts from the United States and abroad.
Transition to Fatherhood Research Initiative OS NICHD This research examines the social and economic consequences of teenage or early fatherhood. This research began with an interagency agreement and is an administrative supplement to the NICHD Transition to Fatherhood Grant-5P01HD045610-05 that assists in developing better pregnancy prevention policies for young men by improving understanding of the social and economic consequences of early and premature transitions to fatherhood. This grant supplement will undertake secondary data analysis of multiple longitudinal datasets to examine if the consequences of premature parenting are different for men than for women. This information is needed in order to inform the development of effective pregnancy prevention strategies for young men.
Translational Research to Help Older Adults Maintain their Health and Independence in the Community Research Initiative ACL NIA The National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the Administration on Aging (AoA) have partnered to solicit applications using the NIH R01 award mechanism for translational research that moves evidence-based research findings toward the development of new interventions, programs, policies, practices, and tools that can be used by community-based organizations to help elderly individuals remain healthy and independent, and living in their own homes and communities. The goal of this initiative is to support translational research involving collaborations between academic research centers and community-based organizations with expertise serving the elderly (such as city and state health departments, city/town leadership councils, and Area Agencies on Aging) that will enhance our understanding of practical tools, techniques, programs and policies that communities across the nation can use to more effectively respond to needs of their aging populations.
Transplant Cancer Match Study Research Initiative HRSA NCI A study linking databases of U.S. transplant recipients, donors, and wait list candidates to multiple U.S. cancer registries to evaluate the spectrum of cancer risk in transplant recipients.
Traumatic Brain Injury Common Data Elements Standards - Interagency Steering Committee Resource Development CDC NINDS, CIT The Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Common Data Elements (CDE) Standards – Interagency Steering Committee provides oversight to a federal scientific initiative to develop and utilize common data elements for TBI.
Treating for Two: Safe Medication Use in Pregnancy Initiative Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, FDA, HRSA OD/DPCPSI/ORWH, NICHD The initiative provides expert input for the development of a conference on systematic, evidence-based review of specific medications used during pregnancy and adverse fetal outcomes.
