The Interagency Artificial Pancreas Working Group is a group of multi-disciplined scientists and clinicians from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support the Artificial Pancreas Initiative. The goals of this initiative are to provide infrastructure for narrowing the gap between basic biomedical knowledge and clinical application of novel technologies, and to cross-fertilize and partner with stakeholders in order to identify and overcome the clinical and scientific challenges to the development of an artificial pancreas. Through collaborative efforts, such as workshops, the group strives to develop innovative strategies to achieve their goals.

The Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) is a federal advisory committee charged with coordinating federal activities concerning autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and providing advice to the Secretary of Health and Human Services on issues related to autism. Membership of the Committee includes a wide array of federal departments and agencies involved in ASD research and services, as well as public stakeholders, including self-advocates, family members of children and adults with ASD, advocates, service providers, and researchers, who represent a variety of perspectives from within the autism community. The inclusion of diverse Committee members with a wide range of expertise and experiences allows the IACC to address the breadth of issues and challenges faced by individuals and families affected by autism. The IACC was reauthorized under the Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education, and Support (CARES) Act of 2019. In fiscal year 2023, the IACC held three full committee meetings on: October 26, 2022; January 18, 2023; and April 4, 2023.

The Interagency Collaborative Animal Research Education (ICARE) Academies and Train the Trainer Institutes use active learning to train participants to meet their responsibilities for animal welfare oversight. The program empowers accountability for facts and conceptual understanding of Federal standards through the study of realistic problems encountered in animal care and use programs. Faculty includes subject matter experts from biomedical research institutions and federal agencies, including National Institutes of Health (NIH) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee members, staff, institutional officials, veterinarians, animal facility personnel, administrators, consultants, as well as compliance and regulatory personnel involved in the humane use of animals in research all may participate in the ICARE program

The Interagency Collaborative to Advance Research in Epilepsy (ICARE) is an interagency epilepsy working group that includes broad representation across the National Institutes of Health (NIH) institutes and centers (ICs) involved in epilepsy-related research, as well as across the Department of Health and Human Services other Federal agencies multiple epilepsy research organizations, and patient advocacy groups with a primary focus on biomedical research. The purpose of this group, which is led by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, is to increase communication among institutes and agencies sponsoring epilepsy-related research and to explore opportunities for increased coordination. The Interagency Committee on Drug Control (ICDC) meets three times per year and is a collaboration between NIDA, DEA, FDA, ONDCP, SAMHSA, and the State Department (Chaired by Drew Townsend for 2024). Members share news on new initiates, U.S. Scheduling Actions, International Scheduling issues, upcoming Legislation initiatives, and other new business. This exchange of information and related documents are collated into minutes and circulated with the group.

The Committee was chartered in 1985 and advises the Secretary, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the Assistant Secretary for Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on coordination of research, educational programs, and other activities within the Department that relate to the effect of smoking on human health, and on coordination of these activities with other Federal, State, local, and private agencies. The Committee established and maintains a liaison with appropriate private entities, other Federal agencies, and State and local public agencies respecting activities relating to the effect of cigarette smoking on human health.

OMB in conjunction with the Census Bureau co-chairs this Federal Interagency Committee on the ACS (the Committee) established by the Interagency Committee on Statistical Policy’s Subcommittee on the ACS (ICSP-SACS). The Committee will exist to participate in reviews of the ACS content and tests of new and/or revised content for the ACS. The Committee will make recommendations on any additions, revisions, or deletions of questions on the ACS to the ICSP-SACS in its capacities of advising the Chief Statistician at OMB and the Director of the Census Bureau.
