In collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Indian Health Service (IHS), and National Cancer Institute (NCI), and with technical assistance from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER), the Alaska Native Tumor Registry collects cancer information on all American Indian and Alaska Native people residing in Alaska at the time of diagnosis.

The AAP Committee on Drugs reviews all aspects of pediatric pharmacology, including drug indications, contraindications, absorption rates, routes of administration, dosing, use precautions, and mode of action as they apply to children. The Committee also advises the Board of Directors in matters related to drug labeling, safety, and efficacy for both prescription and over-the-counter drugs; monitors federal legislation related to the drug approval process; and promotes the need for expanded pediatric drug trials.

The Committee on Nutrition (CON) studies the nutritional needs of infants, children, and adolescents and develops guidelines for the pediatrician based on sound, objective, clinical science as well as practical experience in fostering optimal health status. CON also maintains active liaisons with the Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Canadian Paediatric Society, pursues advocacy opportunities which promote healthy dietary habits; and provides technical assistance as needed relative to the federal regulatory process.

The AAP Council on Injury, Violence, and Poison Prevention was formed on July 1, 2011, with the merging of the former Section and Committee on Injury, Violence, and Poison Prevention. This new leadership body addresses all facets of injury prevention policy, programs, advocacy, and education of general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, and families as a unified group.
