Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HIT) Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force AHRQ, CDC, CMS, IOS NLM, NEI, NIAID, NIAMS, NICHD, NIEHS, NIGMS, NINDS The Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HITAC) was established by the 21st Century Cures Act (P.L. 114-255) and is governed by the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), P.L. 92-463, as amended, 5 U.S.C. App. 2, which sets forth standards for the formation and use of federal advisory committees. The HITAC will recommend to the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology policies, standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria relating to the implementation of a health information technology infrastructure, nationally and locally, that advances the electronic access, exchange, and use of health information. HITAC unifies the roles of, and replaces, the Health Information Technology Policy Committee and the Health Information Technology Standards Committee that were in existence before the date of the enactment of the 21st Century Cures Act. HITAC replaced the Content Standards Workgroup of the Health Information Technology (HIT) Standards Committee, which was part of the Federal Advisory Committee that was charged with making recommendations to ONC on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information.

Health-professional Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) and African Association for Health Professionals Education and Research (AFREHealth) Training Initiative OS FIC, NINR The Health-professional Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI) builds human capacity for health in Africa by strengthening the medical and nursing education system in an environment that values and nurtures research in President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)-funded countries. HEPI aims to advance PEPFAR's goal of increasing the number of new health care workers by 140,000; strengthen in-country medical and nursing education systems; and build clinical and research capacity in Africa as part of a retention strategy for faculty of medical and nursing schools and clinical professors. The nine HEPI awards are complemented by one award for an African Association for Health Professions Education and Research, which acts as a convening and networking entity across all medical and nursing schools in Africa. The new initiatives work in collaboration with State Department's Global AIDS Coordinator.
HealthMap: Knowledge Management for Emerging Infectious Disease Intelligence Research Initiative IOS NLM Leveraging previous National Library of Medicine (NLM) funded work under the HealthMap project, the HHS Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Respone (ASPR) and OPEO co-funded an administrative supplement to an NLM/NIH grant to provide funding to Harvard University for a pilot project in which Harvard will develop real-time applications to collect, parse, analyze, and display open source data in order to address the national needs of emergency preparedness and response for hurricanes.
Healthy People 2020/2030 Heart Disease and Stroke Federal Work Group Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, OS NINDS, NHLBI The Healthy People Initiative sets science-based, national objectives with 10-year targets to improve the health of the nation. The HP2030 HDS Federal Work Group is responsible for creation, refinement, and tracking of HP2030 goals related to heart disease and stroke related prevention and health promotion.
Healthy People 2030 - Cancer Workgroup Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, AHRQ, OASH NCI Healthy People provides 10-year, measurable public health objectives — and tools to help track progress toward achieving them. The Cancer Workgroup has developed Healthy People national objectives and collaborated to track and achieve progress related to cancer prevention and control.

Healthy People 2030 - Kidney Disease Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, CMS, FDA, HRSA, OS NIDDK The Office of the Secretary of Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) leads the Healthy People 2030 initiative. The lead agency for most data activities is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). However, for the kidney area, most of the information is provided by National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) through the US Renal Data System.
Healthy People 2030 - Nutrition and Weight Status Workgroup Committee, Work group, Advisory group, or Task Force CDC, FDA, OASH OD/DPCPSI/ONR, NIDDK The Nutrition and Weight Status group develops goals based on strong science supporting the health benefits of eating a healthful diet and maintaining a healthy body weight. The objectives also emphasize that efforts to change diet and weight should address individual behaviors, as well as the policies and environments that support these behaviors in settings such as schools, worksites, health care organizations, and communities.
Healthy People 2030 - Respiratory Diseases Health Survey CDC NHLBI, NIA, NICHD, NIDA, NIDDK, NIMHD, NINDS, NINR, OD/DPCPSI/OBSSR, OD/DPCPSI/ODS The purpose of the collaborative activity is to support the identification of nationally representative measures that could be used to assess progress towards achieving Healthy People respiratory disease objectives. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute leads this activity.
