The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) have established Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and an Intra-Departmental Delegation of Authority (IDDA) co-funding agreement to collaboratively advance research under a cooperative agreement titled “Using Real-time Prescription and Insurance Claims Data to Support the HIV Care Continuum (CDC RFA-PS-19-003).” The purpose of the cooperative agreement is to develop, implement and evaluate a “Data-to-Care (D2C) Rx” and “Insurance-based D2C” model. Both models will use real-time pharmacy claims data to identify persons with HIV who fail to fill antiretroviral (ARV) medications and to target these individuals for escalating adherence, retention and re-linkage interventions. The D2C Rx model will start by identifying persons with HIV who fail to fill prescribed ARV medications while the Insurance-based D2C model will start with medical (diagnosis and procedure) claims to identify persons with diagnosed HIV and then use pharmacy claims data to determine whether these individuals fill ARV prescriptions.

NVPO provided personnel in a Detail Assignment to support the following activities: 1. Guide and assist with National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Emerging Infectious Disease (EID) Outbreak Research Reponse; 2. Direct strategic planning and advance development for the VRC''s expanding portfolio of candidate vaccines and biotherapeutics; 3. Lead maternal immunization clinical research and vaccine safety surveying and monitoring for VRC''s EID Outbreak Research Response to the Zika virus epidemic, and other vaccine candidates being developed at the VRC; 4. Facilitate collaborative efforts with stakeholders, NIAID, Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), academic institutions, private organizations, and industries dedicated to expanding the state of knowledge of vaccine health globally, to enhance research and clinical readiness; 5. Facilitate advancement of a national strategy to develop medical products and strategies to counter emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) provides an online repository of value sets (code sets from standardized medical vocabularies) that are used for clinical quality measurement in the CMS EHR Incentive Program (meaningful use). The Value Set Authority Center (VSAC) provides downloadable access to all official versions of vocabulary value sets contained in the 2014 Clinical Quality Measures (CQMs). Each value set consists of the numerical values (codes) and human-readable names (terms), drawn from standard vocabularies such as SNOMED CT ®, RxNorm, LOINC, and ICD-10-CM, which are used to define clinical concepts used in clinical quality measures (e.g., patients with diabetes, clinical visit).

The mission of the Workgroup for Harmonizing Hemoglobinopathy Data Sets is to create a resource for federal programs and extramural communities to use in data systems that incorporate data elements in hemoglobinopathies. Specifically this entails establishing a Hemoglobinopathies Uniform Medical Language including: identifying specific goals and objectives for the kind of data that are required by these programs; case definitions for electronic data systems at all levels; consensus about conditions and data elements to be included; and differentiation between data needs for surveillance and for registries/biorepository.

The main objectives of the workshop were to deliberate on the potential causal mechanisms of excess folate/folic acid and Vitamin B12 deficiency, as well as potential biological effects of unmetabolized folic acid. Another main objective was to develop consensus on various basic and clinical experimental study designs, intervention strategies and experimental models for exploring the biochemical mechanisms for these interactions. This workshop was held July 31 - Aug. 1, 2019.
