NIH Disposition of Biospecimens Collected from Tribal Populations

This Tribal Consultation aimed to identify solutions, in partnership with Tribes, for the disposition of de-identified biospecimens collected from American Indian, Alaska Native, and international Indigenous populations. NIH proposed various disposition options that NIH could confidently deliver which will ensure research fairness and respect for Tribal customs and research practices.

The consultation took place on December 5, 2024. The Consultation report summarizes the discussion, including the options presented and input from Tribal leaders and organizations. A complete recording of the consultation on the NIH Videocast platform is also available.
