NIGMS will be hosting a preapplication webinar for our new Tribal IRB program, TIRBEE, on October 15th, at 3:00 – 4:30 EST. Please feel free to join us and share the invite with anyone in your network who might be interested.  The Tribal Institutional Review Board Establishment and Enhancement (TIRBEE) program (PAR-24-260) provides grants to support federally recognized Tribes, Tribal colleges and universities, Tribal health programs, or Tribal organizations to establish Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) or enhance the capacity of existing Tribal IRBs.

Notice of Funding Opportunity: R24 Tribal Institutional Review Board Establishment and Enhancement (TIRBEE)

A new NIH Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) issued by the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) will focus on building research capacity and infrastructure in Tribal communities by supporting awards that establish or enhance Tribal Institutional Review Boards. The first due date for applications for the Tribal Institutional Review Board Establishments and Enhancement (TIRBEE) is January 27, 2025.

The Tribal Health Research Office is hosting the Bi-Annual In-Person NIH Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting on June 26-28, 2024, at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (Main Campus), Rall Building, Rodbell Room ABC, at 111 T.W. Alexander Drive, Durham, North Carolina.

The TAC meetings are an opportunity for the Tribal leaders to come together and advise the NIH on health research matters affecting American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people and ensure that Tribal and AI/AN perspectives are reflected in NIH programs and approaches.

The Tribal Health Research Office (THRO) in the Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI), Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Senior Health Science/Social Science Policy Analyst candidate to join the THRO team.
