ONR Director Andrew Bremer, M.D., Ph.D., M.A.S., and his staff had a great time at the inaugural teaching kitchen event at The Children’s Inn at NIH in October 2024. ONR hosted this activity with collaborators Chef Rasheed Abdurrahman of Food & Friends in D.C., Danielle Cook, M.S., of Happily Hungry, and Ivania Flores from The Children’s Inn at NIH. ONR planned the event to support parents and children staying at the Inn and teach them that cooking healthy, nutritious, and tasty meals can be fun and exciting! The theme of the event was “Fun Ways to Get Your Fruit and Veggies.” The event included hands-on activities for families while ONR dietitians and other nutrition experts educated the group on the nutrition benefits of the food prepared at the event. The ONR team intends to hold more teaching kitchen events on the NIH campus and looks forward to increasing involvement and engagement along the way.
