Responsibilities and Activities

As a Senior Nutrition Scientist, Dr. Zanetti is responsible for supporting NIH nutrition research programs focused on older adults, women’s health, and scientific workforce diversity. She is the Office of Nutrition Research (ONR) representative for the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) initiative Bringing Resources to Increase Diversity, Growth, Equity, & Scholarship for Obesity, Nutrition, & Diabetes Research (BRIDGES) Consortium and serves on the NIH Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity 21st Century Scholars Program Advisory Committee. Dr. Zanetti also contributes to the Human Milk Composition Initiative, which is a collaboration between the US and Canada.

Biography

Dr. Zanetti joined the NIH ONR in May 2022. Prior to joining ONR, she was a Health Scientist Administrator in the Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program in the NCI Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences. In this position, her primary focus was building infrastructure and capacity to support metabolomics research in population-based studies, including the establishing and managing of the cross-NIH international Consortium of Metabolomics Studies (COMETS), co-coordinating the NIH Common Fund Metabolomics Program, and chairing of the NIH Metabolomics Scientific Interest Group.

Dr. Zanetti holds a Ph.D. in Nutrition from Cornell University, an M.P.H. concentrating in Epidemiologic and Biostatistical Methods for Public Health and Clinical Research from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a B.S. in Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh. She has experience providing medical nutrition therapy in both acute and long-term care settings.
