Responsibilities and Activities

Dr. Holly Nicastro serves as the Scientific Lead and Coordinator for the Nutrition for Precision Health, powered by the All of Us Research Program. In this role, she is responsible for the overall management of the Nutrition for Precision Health consortium, progress toward the program’s goals, and monitoring of interactions between the consortium and the external community. Additionally, as a senior member of the Office of Nutrition Research, she represents ONR on the DPCPSI Deputy Directors group and helps lead the Office’s many activities.

Biography

Dr. Nicastro joined the NIH Office of Nutrition Research (ONR) in 2019. Prior to joining ONR, Dr. Nicastro was a Program Director in the Clinical Applications and Prevention Branch, NHLBI, where she managed a grant portfolio of clinical trials related to human nutrition and adult obesity prevention and treatment. At NHLBI, she also spearheaded the Accumulating Data to Optimally Predict obesity Treatment (ADOPT) Core Measures project, which provides a framework for how obesity researchers can generate evidence to develop precision medicine approaches to obesity treatment. 

Dr. Nicastro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from the Pennsylvania State University, a Ph.D. in Molecular and Biochemical Nutrition from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship with NCI’s Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program, where she worked in the Nutritional Science Research Group.
