Nutritional Ecology: My First 100 Days

Understanding of the word nutrition is limited to familiar concepts like food groups, the food pyramid, and diet. And while those in the field recognize the limitations of this view, we have not done a great job at defining the scope of nutrition science for a broader audience. In the inaugural issue of his blog “Drew’s Views”, Dr, Bremer shares how he plans to position ONR to take the lead for growing appreciation of the role of nutrition as an integral component of growth, development, and health.

Bremer Named Director of the Office of Nutrition Research

Andrew Bremer, Ph.D., M.D., M.A.S., was named the new director of NIH’s Office of Nutrition Research (ONR), part of the Division of Program Coordination, Planning and Strategic Initiatives in the NIH Office of the Director.  Bremer is a board-certified internist, pediatrician and pediatric endocrinologist, and has a Ph.D. in pharmacology. He previously served as chief of the Pediatric Growth and Nutrition Branch at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). His areas of expertise include endocrine disorders, obesity, developmental origins of health and disease, and the role of nutrition in health throughout the life cycle.
