  • Assuring the protection of individuals and populations participating in NIH-funded research – Carrie Wolinetz, Ph.D., Associate Director for Science Policy, NIH
  • Assuring the IRB review and approval process, including research with tribal populations – Sara Hull, Ph.D., Chair, Institutional Review Board, National Human Genome Research Institute and Director, NHGRI Bioethics Core
3:25 – 4:00 p.m. Perspectives and recommendations from participating Tribal members about NIH’s stewardship roles

Moderated by Malia Villegas, Ph.D., Ed.M., Councilmember, Native Village of Afognak Member, NIH Tribal Consultation Advisory Council

  • Ways of integrating tradition and culture in the design and conduct of research involving tribal populations
  • Partnering with tribes in the design and conduct of research
